  • Played scary game since last Halloween?
@Inyeon That is nice of @j7schultz. Is Dead Space Remake very scary? I heard good things about it, but I do not enjoy being too scared. Is it Bioshock/Prey level of scary, or worse than that? see more

Hello Legion Gamers! As we enter the spooky month of Halloween, here is the first (or second) question of the month: have you played any scary games this past year since the last Halloween? There were some good candidates this past year: Amnesia: The Bunker, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre... see more

@Saka That's true, and many battles are more winnable in video games indeed. I would not last too long if I had to do what Doomguy does for a living. see more

@Saka True, but the inevitable march of technology will not be stemmed. Smart houses are already designed to have fewer of those crannies. In some science fiction I read, people no longer used vacuum cleaners, instead, they had an electric fence put under the floor designed to move all the dust... see more

Yes, that's what did when I had one. With laptops, I am much more cautious, but I did not quite get if @DracoTarot referred to laptop or tower, true. I thought it was about a laptop because with a tower you do not really need compressed air: when you remove the side panel you can pretty much just... see more

@DracoTarot So you do not open it up the way shown in the link @Saka found? I did not know it could help, always thought you need to open up the fan to really clean it. see more

@DracoTarot Does Sam have an origin story? From what I could gather, he is sort of a macabre personification of Halloween? see more

@Saka Some people are lazy and really do need judgement, though. I am one of those myself sometimes. But I say take some time to see what someone needs: judgement or help. Then again, these days we have so many gadgets designed to shoulder the burden that it can be hard not to become lazy if you... see more

@Saka It may depend on the plants, not all of them have dust-cleansing properties. But you're right, this year has been harder than most in that regard. see more

@DracoTarot It is admirable. I can never bring myself to do that, I always fear that I will damage something if I open it up (but I do have a laptop, I did not have this problem with a tower before. So I usually give it to the service desk to get cleaned, so do not do that often. see more

@DracoTarot Can his bag actually be filled? Or maybe it is an allegory about the futility of effort and it is actually impossible to do, and so he would haunt you forever? see more

I think that most of what became traditional children's stories were originally quite gruesome and not intended for kids. Mermaid, as you said, is one example, and Red Riding Hood comes to mind. Even some of the more modern stories like the ones that the Grimm Brothers collected were gory and had... see more

@Saka I remember you mentioning the dust, but I also recall that you have an air purifier (please correct me if I remembered it wrong). Does it help at all? And do you then have to clean the laptop every few months? Have you tried getting more plants that help with dust? I remember we talked... see more

@Saka Indeed. Or it could be a hoarder disorder, too. It is important not to judge people too quickly. see more

@Saka Oh wow, that looks bad. @DracoTarot values cleanliness, I wonder what he thinks about that amount of dust. But 8 months is really not that long, it must have been a rather dusty environment. How often do you usually clean your dust vents? see more

@BelalSaid Ah, now I got it. This is an interesting example: a fictional monster in a fictional storybook which is used as a plot device in a different fictional story, multilayered storytelling. A bit like Sophie's World. I guess it adds a level of allegory to the Monster story. see more

@MustafaM7moud Is it known how "Alnaddaha" is born? Often in folklore, the origins of the spirit are different. For the ghost, it is typical to suffer a violent death or have some unfinished business, but it varies. Yuki-onna, for example, is born of a woman who dies in the snow. But some monsters... see more

@Saka Monster does not have to be malicious, it's true, many ghosts, for example, are not. It was more of a comment about Gorke's behaviour and motivation. My childhood trauma monster is from a puppet cartoon of the Soviet era, a story about the adventures of three little dogs as they search for... see more

This is a good one. I always find it interesting to follow myth variations between different cultures. "Alnaddaha" is an interesting monster, and I wonder if it is connected in any way to the Japanese Nure-Onna: It is not a fully beautiful woman, only the head is of one, but she lives in... see more

@BelalSaid Wait, I am confused, I thought The Nameless Monster from Naoki Urasawa's Monster was a human serial killer? see more
