@DracoTarot Too bad, but bread and butter are important:

We'll see you next time! Are you always unavailable at that specific time?
@DoctorEldritch, My times do vary from week to week and month to month. Most of the time I'm a night shifter. I'll have one day off in a week and public holidays. Making and taking time for myself is a bit hectic these couple of days. It interferes with my sleeping patterns. I'm supposed to be resting but my body doesn't want to comply.

@galadrielmt We'll miss you @galadrielmt, but yeah, maybe next time. Have fun at your concert, break a leg!

@DracoTarot My heart goes out to you, I know what it's like to do the night shift. At one of my past jobs, we had a 2-week rotating pattern afternoon-morning-night, so you needed to work at night 2 weeks out of 6. It was quite taxing for me, and I do hope that you're faring better than I did.

I remember my body would not comply either, and I'd play some games or watch something until I felt sleepy, but I do not recommend doing that often, I was losing concentration easily (so yeah, no taxing reaction games then). What time is your normal gaming time then?

@DoctorEldritch I'm cheating my body out of sleep and it's not healthy. I'm supposed to be taking a rest to prepare for the shift tonight but I'm updating my social media instead and doing chores around the house 😃

When I reach the point of tunnel vision then I know I need to call it quits. Days off and some weekends would be my time to indulge in a little gaming. On the other hand, my time off is also spent attending to my father who is ill and lost his leg due to diabetes. Specific timeframes may vary.

@DracoTarot Well, I want to say that frame of mind is relatively common, you often try to find reasons to do something other than what you should be doing. Ah, the inspiring joy of procrastination, how relatable you are. But thank you for choosing to spend this time with us.

I only reached tunnel vision a few times, though. And nice of you to look after your father like that. Looking after your parents is important and admirable.

@DoctorEldritch It's an honour to be here and I thank the community for accepting me. I enjoy spending time here. ☺

Yea tunnel vision is the ultimate peak of tiredness for me. Strangely enough, I do not lose focus and will continue to finish the tasks at hand but in the process, I will neglect other things that are important.

Being the only child in our family I needed to move beyond the ordinary and leave things behind I was doing and were part of my life. Sacrifices were made and I do not regret it one bit.

My mom and dad went beyond the ordinary themselves to raise and care for me. Now it's my turn to show my gratitude and to carry them in times of need.

Aww, that is sweet of you to say. It is an honor to have you here with us too.

I tried not to work with tunnel vision, that shift pattern was tiresome enough for me even when it did not come to that, so I'd go to bed immediately if I got it.

That is admirable to care for parents. I have a brother, so we both care about them together, but he is married and recently turned me into an uncle, so these days I spend more time with parents between the two of us, on holidays and such.

@DoctorEldritch thank you 😊. I wish it was easy for me to do the same. If I'm tired, I'm irritated and always look for something to keep me occupied instead of just closing my eyes and resting. I guess it's just in my nature.

I'm the only child, not as privileged to be an uncle and also single. Yea!! boring life but my parents keep me going. 😊

@DracoTarot you're welcome 😊 I get you, it was hard to fall asleep like that for me too, but I was forcing myself to stay in bed. I find it helps to glue all windows black and have not a single source of light in situations like this. Generally, I am very easily disturbed by light when I try to fall asleep. So much so that I need to unplug TVs in any hotel I visit, those little red bulbs annoy me to no end.

I am also single, but now also an uncle. But you can still get lucky and be a godfather to someone? Is there such a concept in SA?

@DoctorEldritch I also need to be in a space where there's no light. Unfortunately, our neighbours have some of those annoying solar lights going off constantly. The only way I don't see them is to pull myself under the covers.

Being a Godfather is risky for me LOL!! I've seen too many of my friends who had to take on the responsibility of looking after someone else's children and it's not easy. The relationships fail due to external interference or financial strain.

I would like to have my own bundle of joy with my own DNA if that makes sense 😄
