    Hello Legion Gamers!

Epic Games Store offers games for free every week. This week, the free games are...

The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition

The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition is the ultimate way to play the award-winning RPG from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division. Including the base game and all DLC, this remastered masterpiece is the absolute best version of The Outer Worlds.

This one is a treat, Obsidian usually know what they're doing and are quite good at it. I played this, it is a very nice RPG, the only drawback for me really was that I could see that team's resources did not quite match their ambitions. If there is someone around who likes RPGs and has not played it yet (is there? 🤨), then this is a good game to claim. More so that it is Spacer's Choice Edition, which means that it has all the DLCs included. After all,

And this is not all, we're having a good week. Another free game this time around is...

    Thief

Thief is a 1st person stealth-action game by Eidos-Montréal. In this reimagination of the cult classic Thief franchise, steal, stealth and infiltrate your way through the treacherous City as Garrett, the Master Thief.

This is another very good game. Which I actually have not played. Somehow I missed the original Thief when it first came out, and the series fell off my radar. But same as with Deus Ex, I only played a bit of the original first game but liked modern prequels very much. And also like Deus Ex, this game was made by Eidos-Montréal. Sadly, we will not be getting new Deus Ex games anytime soon, it seems, so Thief is the closest we can get to their brand of worldbuilding and storytelling.

I want to try it, my only reservation is that, unlike The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition, this is a base game. Booster backs aside, the Master Thief Edition, which is not offered for free, includes 2 DLCs: The Forsaken Challenge Map and The Bank Heist Mission. The former seems to be some sort of timed challenge I can live without, but the latter seems like a worthy addition, so I am conflicted about whether the game should be played without it. I know Deus EX DLCs were good (even if it would make more sense for them to be better integrated into the main story instead). Any advice?

So two very nice games to grab this week!

Up for some space bureaucracy or fantasy thieving, anyone?

@deputy If you claim it now, you can play it whenever you want, does not have to be just the weekend when they offer it for free. Just as long as you claim it before they change what they give out next week.

@DoctorEldritch is there anywhere you can see next week's free games if one is not interested in this week's?

The Outer World's game's hilarious! Tons of freedom and loot, but beware of glitchy bits and a serious case of the grinds. Fun, but not perfect. 3 out of 5 thumbs up (from a tired dishwasher)

@karolin92 Usually you can, sort of, but there are nuances. EGS main page shows one game that will be free next week, so now we can see that next week one of the free games will be Ghostrunner.

But often the EGS offers 2 free games a week and keeps the second one a surprise that we can't see anywhere before it is on offer.

In addition, sometimes there are leaks and official releases of their plans that some can use to spot the games they may want, but those can be unreliable as sometimes plans change. For example, Fallout game giveaway plans were scrapped earlier this year.

So yeah, you sort of can, but not all of it and sometimes plans change, too 😅

@xperienceHaven I played it before the Spacer's Choice Edition where, I hear, they tinkered with graphics. But I hope that seeing as how much time has passed since the release and how long they had to iron those wrinkles out, I am hoping it is less glitchy now.

Though I can't remember much grinding. Certainly less than, say, the latest Yakuza games had (and don't get me started on Assassin's Creed series). What did you grind for?
