@DracoTarot Oh my, is this what the Fortnite demographic looks like these days? Huh... Well, no surprise there, but I'd think Fortnite has a more diverse demographic than that. For this age, they may enjoy something like...

@DoctorEldritch I know they are only kids, but it's only an example of how teens and adults react in the other videos.

@DracoTarot I guess metal may have it harder than some other genres, with some prejudices still lingering about it. This is sad, video games should open people to new things. But hey, at least there are Brutal Legends or Hellsinger or Rockband for those who get it.

@DoctorEldritch Each to their own I guess. A new Doom is on the way and as usual, the game will be brutal and metal orientated. The bands who will contribute to the soundtrack have not been announced yet.

I wish they would release another Brutal Legends. The game was so much fun to play.

@DracoTarot There is that, true, and Doom is iconic, but a bit niche still. But I wish people were more accepting of different genres in more mainstream games. Fortnite is very big and popular, especially with the younger generation, and it would be nice if the game would have something for everyone. So it is good they put the metal in even if some people can't appreciate it. Would be good if they carried on like this with other genres, too.

Brutal Legends was awesome, but sadly, Double Fine does not usually release sequels, of all their games only Costume Quest and Psychonauts managed to get those, and Psychonauts had to wait a long time for it, too. That, and Jack Black is not as spring as was back then. though his Po was more or less decent in the last Kung Fu Panda, even if the movie itself left much to be desired (at least, for me), but Eddie Riggs requires a lot more voice energy than the herbivore bear. He is still in Tenacious D, so he may have vocals for it still, but in Psychonauts 2 his song was a milder rock. Maybe if Brutal Legend 2 focused on those, it could work?

And if Psychonauts taught us anything, it's that sometimes sequels come to those who wait and Brutal Legend 2 may not be entirely out of the question. It may depend on how busy Jack is, though.

@DoctorEldritch Oh my!! I see you've sent this message two weeks ago already. Apologies I haven't received a notification. @holaki2676 also mentioned me in this thread today but I do not see the comment and when I click on the link via mail the following message pops up. Every game out there must cater to all genres, especially Fortnite. I agree with what you are saying.

I don't think we would see a Brutal Legends 2 anytime soon and if they decide to do another one I'm sure Jack Black won't be part of it.

Jack these days is more into teaching music it seems. Like Christina Ricci, he rejected a few new roles in movies and series. He's not touring anymore and his band members in Tenacious D are all part of different other bands.

I would not say every, with Fortnite it makes sense because it is so big and multi-faceted. But some games are specialist. Tropico has those Hispanic rhythms, for example:

The vibe of the game would not fit metal music. Similarly, jazz music would not work for Hellsinger but works very well with Genesis Noir or Cuphead. But all those games have a clearly defined theme and music helps to build that. I would not say they necessarily need to cater to all genres. But Fortnite aims to be a mashup of things, so they better do it indeed.

And as you mentioned, it's been 2 weeks since we talked about this (no worries, by the way!). Do you know if there are any updates on how it went with Metal in Fortnite in the end? Maybe people warmed up to it?

That's sad, though understandable. Jack is not that young anymore either, though he did have that Mandalorian Season 3 cameo.

But maybe it comes down to the presentation. Games can be very educational, I mean, even the first Brutal Legend was an excursion into different genres, styles and artists of metal, to a degree (and with technical limitations of that time). If they plot the second one to tap more heavily into that, he may be willing to do it, as a chance to educate players about metal in an entertaining and interactive way. Besides, he is friends with Tim Schafer, he joins many of his projects (like Psychonauts 2, too) because they are pals. So maybe.
