@DracoTarot I wonder if the film did a good job in drawing attention to that issue in that format. I mean, I am sure these memories got some light and reflection shed on them because of the film, but I wonder if it did bring this message across as powerfully as the creators intended.

Maybe a film-based series would be a good idea? Like what they did with Snowpiercer. A longer run with a deeper emotional investment in longer-present characters may work well in this case, I would hope.
@DoctorEldritch I agree with you. A series would've been better in the end. It would've put more emphasis on the whole message the director wanted to portray.

I would say no! Most people I think were oblivious and only thought it was another SciFi film. I do have some UK friends and abroad who have no clue about what happened and going on in SA. I don't want to sound political but most of the world does not no half of SA's history.

I mean I was once asked if I'm not afraid of all the wildlife roaming the streets. How do we cope with Lions roaming freely around?😅😆 "We also have cities you know" 😆

@DracoTarot maybe they'll make one yet, someone could pitch it to Netflix. Maybe not even in live-action format, they could try to do what they did with Bright: make an anime spin-off. Well, not anime, some form of traditional paint style could be adapted, but I think it could take off.

Cities do not always save you from wildlife, I would respond, actually. In Mother Russia bears roam the streets:

Though I have to admit, that kind of bear behavior is gradually getting rarer in Russia these days. Most bears are quite civilized these days, so much so it is not improper to entertain one for tea:

So yeah, civilized bears are not only from Peru.

@DoctorEldritch I don't have a particular favorite character, I liked Walter, Peter, Olivia and Astrid, but yes, obviously Walter, was one of my favorite ones his character made me feel a palette of emotions which means he did a good job 😁

@DoctorEldritch It would be awesome if they could make an Anime series about District 9. I also think it would take of especially if they use animation like in Borderlands. Would be nice!

Well, in Russia anything goes LOL!! I'm comfortable with not having a Lion or predator nibbling on my leg when going to the shops or just for a walk in the park. There is an occasional dog trying its luck but that's about it!!

@DracoTarot Does Borderlands resemble traditional art? I remember they were praising the Black Panther movie for incorporating traditional forms designs in character design, but I am not sure how much of that was PR and how much was true. Borderlands style is nice, but I'd want to see style based heavily on traditional art, too, all in support of local artistry.

And Netflix claims to support local directors (and in a way, it does, too), so it would be a very nice project if they did something like that.

Anything goes in Florida (or so Maury says), but Russia is not far behind. And yeah, not being eaten by a lion while shopping is one of civilization's great benefits.

@GoLLuM13 Walter was the one who made me interested to try a rootbeer float, I did not know it even existed before I saw it on the show. And it was very nice. Because of that, this is what I remember most about him. But I agree that he did a good job there, too bad the plot did not allow him to shine quite as good in Sleepy Hollow.

But I was also excited to learn he provided a voice to a few games, he was a Scarecrow in Batman: Arkham Knight, for example, I did not know that.

Me and @DracoTarot were discussing VR possibilities recently, and that reminded me of another good series I watched called Upload. It is about a near future where technology allows to upload human consciousness into a digital world just before they die, so people get to live forever in a sort of digital reality (those who want to):

The premise is somewhat simple, but it makes up for it with sometimes nice jokes and social commentary.

Recently, @DracoTarot and I touched on the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie in the movie conversation. But that reminded me: on the subject of Pirates, here is a series while we wait: Our Flag Means Death:

This is a sitcom about Stede Bonnet and Blackbeard (both real historic figures) meeting and their misadventures together as they fill the void in each other's lives. It is sort of a pirate-themed bromance (with an emphasis on romance). So while the Pirates of the Caribbean steal looming on the horizon, here is an option for right now.

@DoctorEldritch looks interesting. I will give it a go. Thank you for the recommendation.😊

@DracoTarot I liked it, personally. Two leads are friends in real life, so they have good chemistry going, and the whole thing is silly and whimsical, I found it entertaining enough.
