    Hello Legion Gamers!

    Earlier this week we thought about the technology used in education, but same as different devices can be used for learning, the approach to learning Is also different. For example, what do you do when you need to learn some new material or skill?

    Some people use textbooks, while others prefer video tutorials. Podcasts or more formal courses are also an option. Some try to learn by themselves, others prefer to learn with others, and then there is an issue of whether you're learning something for fun or as a part of an official course or module, and the list of different approaches goes on.

    Personally, I like to go to the library if I need to study some actual new material, I find that change in the environment and lack of attractions helps, and I usually stick to the good old textbook approach.

    What about you?

    @Aaricia If it weren't for YouTube, my brain might have regressed to a kindergarten level 😅

    I love the ambiance of a library so much! My dream is to go there, put my phone out of reach, have no internet, and just focus on what's in front of me. Unfortunately, in web development, most resources are online, so there's rarely a reason to visit the library 😭

    I agree with the library ambiance and I still go there often, not to learn things, but just for pleasure. There are lots of graphic novels in the libraries here. Are you into comics? Sometimes reading can be a great way to disconnect (and give your screen-tired eyes a rest 😊)

    @CandelaSynth Yes! I love comics, graphic novels, and reading in general, but sadly, the library here mostly has academic books 😓 For now, my good ol' trusty Kindle is the savior of my tired eyes.

    Videos, when done well, are the best for me. Also learning by doing works quite well. I'm so not a textbook type of a learner :D

    @ZaidH I remember the times when I was at uni and all learning was done through books and own notes, and I remember the smell of the books in the library, I really liked getting adventure books from there mostly though 😀

    @miskkie yes, videos work well for me too, especially when I need to cook something new, which happens rarely, but when it does, videos are perfect 😀

    Youtube is one of my best friends for DIY tasks and anything that has to do with learning any new software (not much cooking on this end, hehe)

    @miskkie

    If not books, what other resources do you use? Are audio-books/podcasts a good option for you? : )

    @Aaricia That sounds like a jolly good time! I wish I could hop into a time machine and experience libraries before mobile phones became mainstream. For me, library visits often meant me sitting there peacefully and getting into the flow of writing code, only to be interrupted by music leaking through the headphones of the students around me 😆

    Please notify me if you ever come across a perfume with notes that consist of a freshly opened book.

    All this library talk made me wish that this community had a book club 😄 It would be great to find some new reads from the amazing people here.

    That book club is a fantastic idea!! What about creating a thread in the off-topic section to share recommendations? 👀
