@ZaidH There is something dystopian about the prospect of one test determining your life, true. But then again, we have examples like this all the time, and even in literature not in that genre. Like Hogwarts Houses, for example: studies suggest that personality is affected by environments, so then, grouping people by the qualities of their character will, of course, help those particular qualities grow, but also would ensure limited growth of other characteristics. One can make an argument that one of the detrimental decisions in the life of a young wizard is made on the whim of a piece of clothing. And there are numerous examples like this in books. So really, the Korean system is nothing new.

Tropico 6 has, at times, quite astute social commentary. It is a bit hit-or-miss, but when they hit, they do it well.

Indeed, every success to developers who try to make good games, we can only hope this will be one of them.

Today a previously only digital book store (afaik) opened up a new store in my city, and they celebrated by giving away free books. I will read this one after I finish reading my current one. Chill (in both ways) evenings on the balcony is the best for reading. I just got to fix a good light source since im used to just reading from my tablet and then dont have to worry about the light source.

Don't know why the image went sideways. Maybe a mod can help me straight it up.

@Telomina I read the synopsis of the book, and it's giving me serious K-drama vibes 😄 Should be a great read! Also, that reading setup sounds amazing. Do share your thoughts once you’ve finished the book.

@DoctorEldritch That’s very true. Sad that even in a fictional world, Harry Potter had to kinda finesse his way out of being placed in Slytherin 😭

Oh btw, the trailer for Project Hail Mary is out now! If it’s on your TBR list, I highly recommend reading this masterpiece of a book before spoilers hit. The trailer itself gives away quite a bit. If you’ve got even a sliver of interest in sci-fi, put Project Hail Mary at the top of your list 😁 Even the synopsis for this book is a spoiler 😅 I consider myself incredibly lucky for going absolutely blind in this book.

@ZaidH Ah well, the Sorting Hat missed Harry, but it shoved his son there instead, so it got its dues.

Ah, I heard about Project Hail Mary, but I have not seen the trailer or read the book, just never got to it so far. Now I know to be wary of spoilers. Not sure how soon I might read it, though, I've got my hands full with other books so far.

@DoctorEldritch Yessir, definitely be wary of spoilers. Project Hail Mary is written by the same author as The Martian. The movie for that was super popular, and my goodness, spoilers were everywhere online. Ryan Gosling stars in Project Hail Mary, so you can be sure there’s going to be a tsunami of memes about him and the movie. 😅

@Telomina What book are you reading now? Btw, as someone who also suffers from mind hollowing brain fog, it’s genuinely great to see someone successfully reducing it 😁 Reading, gaming, and going for walks have been really helpful for me too.

@ZaidH tbh i dont think reading helped it, just mental rest, mindfulness and meditation. But just that for a couple of years and I could start reading again.

Im on the last book in the series that I think was in my original post in this thread.

The book is called " the guardian and the queen" by A.M Yates.

Also sorry for not proper capitalizing. I fear I might scare @DoctorEldritch with my improper writing lately 😅

    You're very welcome!

Where do you go for advice about mindfulness and meditation if not books? I read a few of those self-help books back in the day, but they never quite worked for me. I find it more relaxing to go on a hike than meditate. But to each his own, I was just wondering if you watch some videos with tips for meditation or get advice from friends or something else, if books are not a source of that for you.

Ah, no worries, improper writing does not scare me that easily, I mean, it's not Dead Space 😅 And it happens to the best of us 😊
