    Hello Legion Gamers!

Good news for all Fallout/Metro/original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans out there: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is finally getting released today!

The release had a few quirks: the first-day patch is 139 GB, with the game itself being 146 GB. I guess the game has many anomalies 😉

Gamers from Australia where it was released first do report fun gameplay but a high number of bugs, so it is no wonder they needed a patch, but 139 GB is a bit...

Either way, those who enjoy shooters can finally return to the Zone, it's been years.

@DoctorEldritch Here we go again with the Huge downloads LOL!! I do not have that kind of space on my drive at the moment. I think I will wait until most of the updates are available and for the bugs to be stored then uninstall another game to make room for Stalker.

    The game does look great!!!

@DracoTarot The devs released a note for gamers:

Size: 96.4 KB

They are aware of bugs that are inevitable in a project this massive but promise to fix and update things as frequently as they can. Which is good, and so it makes sense indeed for you to wait until it is polished. I'll wait for that as ell, and also to see if they plan and content DLCs or not. Metro Exoduus did not have any.

@DoctorEldritch One of my buddies told me last night he had a 145-gig download and installed the game. When he launched Stalker 2 a notification popped up that he needed to update the game. Yet another 186 gigs worth of updates.

Other gamers reported the game folder after all updates and installation stood at a whopping 500 gig.

It looks like Stalker is going to be one gargantuan of a game. I am not touching it now. I will have to buy a new solid state.

The game does look awesome, especially with ray tracing enabled. I would've liked to give it a go.

    @DracoTarot Oh my, 500 is...huh...

I guess I can't touch it either, not at this size, at least. But hopefully, it will get optimised and get a size reduction later on. It does look awesome, as you said, but notably different across platforms:

@DoctorEldritch Apparently the 500gig download was on Xbox. Don't know why it's so large.

@DoctorEldritch In my point of view games will always look and play better on a PC.

@DracoTarot Maybe optimisation issues? Though I know nothing about game sizes from a technical side.

IKR, why do consoles even exist? It's high time we all shut them down and got everyone PCs.Some devices end forgotten as the progress marches on, like pagers and walkmans. Maybe it's time consoles joined them 😅

@DoctorEldritch 😂😂. I don't have anything against consoles and had a few of my own. The thing is a PC is so much better in all aspects. Upgrading a console isn't easy and with PC you do have that option.

There is no need for consoles to go extinct and they do serve a purpose. In my opinion, they may need to make them more adaptable. 😂

@DracoTarot I never particularly liked consoles, I started with PC and never had a console. I did use them for work a lot when I was working in gaming, and was left unimpressed.

What is the purpose of consoles that a PC can't do?

@DoctorEldritch I will always prefer a PC over a console any day.

Well, I guess unlike the last-gen consoles, where our framerates were locked at 30 fps, the new-gen consoles have upped the framerates to 60 fps. And if you’re a console-only gamer, that’s sort of it. Although many newer (and older) games have unlocked framerates, only PC gamers can truly utilise this feature as the FPS on the new-gen consoles is locked at 60 fps.For some, this may not be a big deal, but for others, 120 fps and full utilisation of a game’s graphic capabilities is an integral part of their gaming experience and such can currently only be achieved on the PC.

    Other advantages may be:

Games are written to function with console hardware. Games load more quickly on consoles, versus PCs, with the exception of gaming rigs. All video game consoles are plug-and-play. Driver compatibility issues are rare. Gaming components are uniform by system. Most consoles allow more than one player. Because extensive setup is required, this process may be problematic with PCs and does not work on all systems.

That's why consoles provide a higher purpose for some. There are also games which can be played offline for example Diablo 3. The privilege seems not to be available to PC gamers anymore.
