    Hello Legion Gamers!

The Next Fest on Steam is over, so it is time for another one: the Visual Novel Fest! @Telomina and @ZaidH you may enjoy this one 😉

Similar to the Storyteller's Festival not that long ago, this one is all about games with narrative as a main element, but with more focus on visual novel format. Not surprisingly, many of the games here come from Japan where this genre is very strong, and several even have acclaimed anime adaptations, like Steins; Gate or Clannad. @AmrAli1 and @GoLLuM13, this may be of interest 😉 Here is a brief discount list, but there is more:

Until Then has a nice offer, it is a very good game, but I already got it on one of the previous sales. @DracoTarot you may find Scarlet Hollow interesting, it is in Early Access still, but they offer a demo. As for me, I am thinking about Cabernet. While we're waiting for Bloodlines 2 😅

@skydsgaard, @miskkie and I'll tag you all again for a sale as usual. And @SKYTRiXSHA, did you get Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 yet as you wanted during the Storyteller's Festival? Maybe you see something you want to spend a bit on this time. See anything that you like?

@DoctorEldritch thank you! I always think I will get into this genre, take a cozy evening with tea and a blanket, and a handheld console and enjoy a visual novel game. But I really struggle winding down that much whilst still retaining some energy for a game. Normally I'll just fall asleep.

Any tips on how people enjoy their visual novel games, and staying awake would be appreciated 🤗

@Telomina For me it is more about the time it takes to play, those visual novels can be somewhat time-consuming, you need to read through a lot of text. And I have actual books I want to read, too...

So I opt for something with more dynamic elements, like Until Then. You know, not pure visual novels with static backgrounds and a set of motionless characters with several expressions each, something more dynamic and moving, this is how I keep my focus. Maybe that will work for you? Failing that, try the horror visual novel genre, that could keep you awake 😉

Oh, and that is not to say that I do not play pure visual novels at all, I sometimes do, but go for the most famous ones. I do not have the time for more than that in this genre 😭

I am mostly in the Nordic these days, I should get out more... But in my defence, you did not tag me there 😅

Good to know you spotted this fest and are not missing out.

@AmrAli1 Until Then is very good and based in the Philippines if you're interested in that location.

Then there are several games with anime based on them, have you watched Steins; Gate or Clannad? If you did and you like the animes, chances are you'll like the games too. Danganronpa also fits there, though I personally did not like the anime adaptation as much for it as for the previous two games.

If you're after some social commentary, Orwell i good for commentary on surveillance, and Minds Beneath Us for AI with a bit of cyberpunk flair.

And Phoenix Wright is a cult classic, of course 😊

So plenty of choices depending on what you're looking for and in the mood for, really 😉

Many thanks for sharing 🫡 People talk about The House in Fata Morgana like it's the pinnacle of fiction. I'd love to hear some more grounded takes on it from anyone here who's played it 😄

@DoctorEldritch I do actually have Until Then, but went away from it a bit and kept hearing the soundscape on the metro with an occasional "notification ping", so I wasn't super loving it. This style also won't help me be inspired to draw more like the more beautiful image ones. So I am a bit in limbo over that genre but not ready to give it up either.

Oh no, there is horror visual novels? I did start one that's a bit more detective-mystery, just the demo so far, Bustafellows 2 I think it's called. I didn't have time to play it much (it was during my indies showcase stream) but it got me pretty intrigued.

Oh my god I just noticed Clannad!! I read that as a teenager. I didn't realize there was a game version. I must add that to my wishlist. Especially if it has the music (believe I also saw the anime).
