@DracoTarot I tried audiobooks, but could not get into them. If I have free time, I'd rather read, but if I multitask, I get too distracted thinking about my own things or focusing on tasks and end up spacing out through big chunks of the book. I am more of a visual learner, I guess. But if it works for you, that is good. Though I guess it is important to find a person who reads it right and with good diction.

Fair enough. Do migraines happen when you travel, or is that something that just happens periodically?

In that case, you could crush brittle bits completely into a coarse "powder" and use it as a crumble sprinkle for other desserts?

@DoctorEldritch The thing is my hands are always busy that's why audiobooks suits well. Since this morning me and my mum walked 16 km . We went to the shops and the doctors. While I was waiting for my mum at the clinic I listened to my recently copied audio book called Lords of Salem. I guess when I get older I will be more interested in reading. 🙂

I have migraines daily. The levels of attack depend on what I'm doing. Travelling long distances makes it worse. Summertime with the high humidity makes things horrible for me.

I have learned to deal with the pain as much as I can but some days I feel like dying. There's nothing the doctors can do really. I need a brain op to fix some of the issues on my frontal lobe behind my right eye. I have a nerve directly behind my eye pushing against my eye socket.

The thing is it may or may not be a success. There's no guarantees.

Great idea. The power would be great over some desserts.

@DracoTarot Makes sense, but I need to ask, what were you doing with your hands while waiting near the clinic? Do you do some sort of portable craft, like knitting?

I remember reading that dehydration may intensify migraines, so it would make sense that heat and humidity would make them worse. Have you tried drinking more water, more than you currently do? It may not help with the nerve issue, but it may help to alleviate the symptoms somewhat.

Nerve is unfortunate, for that I have no practical advice. But from a more lyrical perspective, it could bring you somewhat close to the Odin figure, with how he traded an eye for wisdom and foresight. Yours is not as drastic, but the parallel may be there...

That is one way not to waste product and rework it into something good if it no longer looks presentable to be sold as is.

@DoctorEldritch No not really. I try not to fiddle around when waiting at a certain place. My hands are mostly busy on my mobile. Knitting or a portable craft does sound like a good idea. Maybe I must knit a scarf or socks next time around at the doctor's. I mean sometimes we wait for up to six hours to see a doctor or for medicine. 🙂

I keep myself hydrated and drink enough water and coffee during the day. The issue is the nerve. I need a prosedure done to move the nerve out of the way.

The issue is the specialist does not seem confident it will be a success and therefore I'm not keen on going for the procedure.

In a way I'm trying to adapt as much as I can.

It would be wonderful to have wisdom and foresight in a godly way. It can be of much use but I'd rather bare the pain instead of sacrificing a body part. 😅

@DracoTarot Waiting for doctors can be very long indeed. Though socks are not really beginner knitting, the heel is not that easy. I'd start with a scarf if you want to try your hand at knitting. Does not have to be knitting, though, there are other portable crafts. Maybe cross stitch would suit you better, and you get to do all sorts of motifs, even metal ones:

Water is good, not sure about coffee. I myself never drink it, but just because I never quite developed a liking for taste, I really do not understand why people like it. But that's me.

If it is not a success, what would be the complications? I mean, just a not successful treatment is less severe than the possibility of making things worse or damaging something else.

In the Norse myth, I think the sacrifice of this kind was to demonstrate dedication to the pursuit. It'd be best not to have any pain, but in the presence of it, an analogy to a Norse god may make the ordeal even a little bit more bearable, I'd hope.

@DoctorEldritch I will start of with something small like a scarf or sleeping shocks maybe. My mum knit socks in winter and donate them to our local charity. She'll maybe make ten pairs every two months.

I always wanted to try cross stitching. I think it's time to start off with a small design and see how it goes.

I can't go a day without coffee. I'm not much of a tea fan.

There's a few things to take into consideration before the operation. There's a possibility my eyesight may be effected and I could develop worse sinus issues in the future. The other thing is the nerve when moved, may cause paralysis and I could loose some feeling in my face.

@DracoTarot Ah, so you have someone who is proficient in knitting and can help you if you get stuck, that's good. 10 pairs in two months is one sock every 3 days, that's a good speed.

Cross stitching, I think, could be easier than knitting, even if less practical: knitting can make clothes, but cross stitching is mostly decorative. Best of luck with whatever you end up trying.

I like tea well enough, but I am not a huge fan either. I like trying different kinds, though, like Masala or the Myanmar version, or making my own mixes. But I just don't like the taste of coffee.

Oh my, it does sound serious. I can see why it is important to carefully approach this decision. Best of luck coping with it in the meantime. What would happen as you wait, would this condition deteriorate or remain stable?

@DoctorEldritch My mom is doing it since her childhood. She's a pro at knitting but she's slowing down a bit. Time and having issues with her hands is making it a bit difficult these days.

Cross stitching is definitely much easier. At least I can follow a drawn pattern or design on the material.

Coffee will and always be my favourite.

It's a huge decision to make. I can't take risks and have to be sure I won't be in a predicament afterwards. The thing is my dad is also not well and disabled. My mum's health is also not great and if I'm out of action for a while then we going to be in a worse predicament.

My condition could deteriorate. I try my best not to put too much strain on myself for now.

Oh well, that's life I guess. I got the curve ball right where it hurts the most but I'll cope. 🙂

@DracoTarot I hear that knitting is one of those skills that is good to keep up as you age, even if you slow down, because it helps maintain motorics and neuron connections and slows down age-induced cell deterioration. So it is good that she is keeping it up, even slower than before.

True, and from that angle, it has several different creative stages, too: design, drawing and then stitching itself. You could even stitch yourself a full deck of Tarot cards 😉

Ah well, this is one aspect where we do not align, it seems. Nothing against coffee, it's just...not my cup of tea.

Quite a conundrum indeed. I once had a surgery that did not go well and left me with lasting undesirable side effects. I do not recommend it. Best to be extra sure that it will go the way you want it to. Maybe there is something that can be done to further ease the strain, some sort of eyepatch or something like that to keep an eye relaxed, at least, under the sunlight?

@DoctorEldritch My mum gets annoyed because of her hand issues but she tries her best not to give up.

I never seen stitched tarot cards before. Maybe I must try it out and market them. 😂

And a cup of tea ain't my cup of coffee. 🤣

That's why I'm scared to go for the procedure. Too much negative info rather than positive. If I have to go out in sunlight or when it's windy, I wear sunglasses. Eyepatches may also work bit I do not want to be associated with a Pirate all the time. 🤣

Further I have eye drops and pain medicine for the attacks. Nothing else I can do really besides the surgery.

If all else fails and I can't cope anymore I will draw up a will and them go for the procedure and hope for the best. 😅
