@DoctorEldritch At least Rocksmith songs are playable on guitar and drums so it's sort of entertaining. I will tag you if I see a post about the free download. 🙂

Makes sense. A lot of time is needed to complete such projects.

@DracoTarot what do you mean, entertaining as opposed to what? If Rocksmith songs were playable on violin and piano, they would not be entertaining anymore? 🤨

Especially if you're doing them on your own time and without pay 😅

@DoctorEldritch Off course Rocksmith will be entertaining on every level no matter what type of instruments are introduced depending on your personal preference. What I meant was everyone has the ability to enjoy the songs either through listening to them or to learn how to play it on a certain instrument like a guitar or drums. So in a sense Rocksmith is for entertainment and a learning tool which makes it somewhat entertaining.

Without pay is an issue but sometimes the developer reaps the rewards afterwards.

@DracoTarot Ah, that makes it clearer. I wonder how hard their songs are to learn for a beginner.

Sometimes, some of them get to form their own studios (like Fallout London creators), or they get hired by other developers, but more often they just do it out of passion, with few actual rewards aside from the experience and respect of fans and peers.

@DoctorEldritch Learning to play the songs aren't that hard. The tabs and tutorials makes things much easier. It's all about "practice makes perfect." I learned most of the hard and complex songs on Rocksmith. I had a bit of issue though. Rocksmith lagged om my pc a lot and. My soundcard was the problem. I needed to purchase a extra Dub card to make things run smoothly.

Either way, it's nice when developers decide to look out for the fans. It's not always about the recognition and money. 🙂

Have you seem they're released Hexen and Heretic this weekend. The old versions are free for download.

@DracoTarot Ah well, 10.000 hours and you can be an expert in anything, eh? 😉

Makes sense, good music needs a good card. and probably good headphones or speakers, too...

I'd say this is more fans looking out for fans, mods are very often by fans for fans type of thing. Comraderie at its finest.

No, actually, I have not; I have been somewhat preoccupied this weekend. Thank you for sharing! Do you have links for those, maybe?

@DoctorEldritch Sometimes it takes a lifetime to become a expert depending on the trade. 🙂

I used a hi-fi system for Rocksmith. The sound is so much better. Headphones also work well especially when you suck at playing. No one can hear the noise you making and awful playing ability. 😂🤣

I've seen it on STEAM. There was a banner on top of the page but I see it's not visible anymore. I will try and find a link for you.

@DracoTarot I'd say that may depend on your definition of "expert". Lately, I fear, the bar dropped somewhat, and to be an "expert", you need but an online certificate. And you can trust this because I am an expert on how to become an expert, I have a certificate and everything 😅

I guess whether or not you want others to hear your awful playing. If your relationship with them is good, then headphones are better as you want to spare them the suffering. But if neighbours are not that nice to you, then practising your music is a good enough way to get back at them 😅 Though it is more of a scenario when you live in a big multi-flatted house, not your own house.

Speaking of mods, just recently DOOM Eternal got official mod support. Now you can search for them and get them from the game page.

@DoctorEldritch The worst part is the experts who has all those certificates are not as professional as you think. Some are experts on becoming experts but what they put forward is not what you would expect from a expert. Certificates these days means nothing in certain aspects. There's so many people out there who are professional in a trade without those certificates outperforming those who holds certificates.

At least my neighbours aren't bothered about nothing. They do not mind a little bit of noise now and then and I tolerate theirs too. We have a mutual agreement. It's all about not embarrassing myself. 😅

I would rather people not hear my awful playing. Headphones do work best to prevent it.

I have seen it. The mods seem nice and I will eventually download them.

@DracoTarot Maybe it's just that some experts end up surrounded by incompetent people?

    😉

I wonder, it may depend. Maybe they like professional metal music and do not mind it, but would feel different about amateur performances. Like with classical music: when young kids learn piano or violin, it can be quite unbearable, but once they are good enough, it becomes more or less ok to have to listen to them practice 😅

But yeah, modern technology gives us headphones, so might as well use them for the benefit of everyone.

I have not yet, to be honest. I first like to play the game as it was intended by the developers before mods (unless they bring back cut out content), and I have not finished DOOM Eternal yet. I started it once, but then got distracted and have not had a chance to get back to it since. Are there any mods that are particularly good?
