@Abdelsalam I don't see any sort of stability before 2027. RAM manufacturers have stated they don't plan to increase production volume, so "GG go next" for us PC enthusiasts. Now in 2026, phones, GPUs, consoles and everything else with RAM in it will also follow the price hikes. Fun times... Get ready for cloud gaming

If this is the trend now and your current system is perfectly fine, and you were just thinking of a small upgrade, then better hold off. But be prepared to wait a very long time for it to return to before AI prices or it might not return at all. 😅

Yeah, seems like we’ll all have to adapt cloud gaming or wait for the market to cool.

Yep,might as well wait and see how things go.

Honestly, I don’t think RAM prices will calm down anytime soon. AI data center demand is still exploding, and manufacturers aren’t increasing output fast enough to catch up. Even retailers seem unsure, updating prices almost daily. If you need RAM for a build or upgrade, it’s probably safer to buy now before another spike. But if your system is fine as is, waiting might pay off once supply stabilizes—though that could take years at this point as I see. (sadly) 😐

    It's pretty crazy!

I built a new PC a few months ago, and paid around £200 for my 64GB of DDR5 RAM

That same RAM is now closer to £500!

@Abdelsalam I see Micron has now announced that they will be exiting the Crucial consumer business. To quote their statement:

“The AI-driven growth in the data center has led to a surge in demand for memory and storage. Micron has made the difficult decision to exit the Crucial consumer business in order to improve supply and support for our larger, strategic customers in faster-growing segments,” said Sumit Sadana, EVP and Chief Business Officer at Micron Technology. “Thanks to a passionate community of consumers, the Crucial brand has become synonymous with technical leadership, quality and reliability of leading-edge memory and storage products. We would like to thank our millions of customers, hundreds of partners and all of the Micron team members who have supported the Crucial journey for the last 29 years.”

For us consumers this isn't good news 😢

Yeah, upgrading now feels risky but waiting might be even riskier.

    Lucky timing!
Your RAM’s value jumped like crypto Dodged paying way too much 😅.

The statement basically confirms what we feared consumers aren’t the priority anymore.

I think in a couple of months (max in spring) this "fever" will get lower due to slow saturation of the market. Unless then won't be the DDR 6 leap.

@Abdelsalam, yesterday, it was also said that SanDisk and Samsung are delaying NAND shipments. A reportedly leaked memo at Transcend has indicated that they are without supply since October. I don't even want to know about other commitments. I hope something, someone, will help save the consumers. This cascade won't bode well.

It is understandable that consumers aren't the biggest market, and new PC sales aren't looking positive on graphs. But without consumers, a brand stands to lose value and recognition. A vector in generating enterprise business is spurred on by consumer interest. I hope that rationality will prevail in keeping the consumer market accessible.
