    Hello,

I am a seasoned souls-like player and I do like to play hard games to challenge myself.

Recently I started played Silksong and even though I like it, I wanted to relieve some frustration about it.

I feel like enemies are kinda hard to hit, especially in the air, because you can't quite reach them or if you get too close you hit their bodies and take damage. I am so angry with this, everytime I miss because I'm too far away, when I get too close I hit their bodies and take damage.

They also have weird trajectories of attack. I can't recall how many times I died due to just bumping into the enemy's body hitbox.

Also paying for bonfires and fast travel? Very annoying. Benches are so scarce and hard to find, I am currently in Sinner's Road and there's 1 broken bench and then nothing, a huge area of extremely annoying enemies without a bench to save your progress so you don't have to walk all the way from Greymoor again.

I will continue to play, I expected to be difficult, but there is a fine line between difficult and annoying and frustrating, like Lies of P's ambush at every corner or DS2. It's like it was made specifically to drive the player insane.

I just needed to blow off some steam, I understand Hollow Knight: Silksong is a great game and I will overcome it, it just drives me to despair sometimes.

    Do you feel the same?

@rikkimaruuu First and foremost: Games are fun before anything, if the game is too frustrating, then yeet it

Second is that you're right, the game is hard and I like to call it the Indie Dark Souls basically, my advice tho is to learn movement in the game because it basically carries everything, and unlearn bad habits that comes with it (like subconsciously dashing into something)

Yeah, you are right, games are for fun, but a souls' player fun is overcoming difficult stuff. I get mad at it and frustrated but the feeling of actually getting the fight done in the end is awesome.

I had the hardest time with the Savage Beastfly boss in the Chapel of the Beast. That boss is kinda difficult considering how early it is.

And indeed, you are right again, I think 90% of the times I take damage is from accidentally dashing into enemies / hitting their bodies, and the Savage Beastfly is the perfect lesson for this.

I struggled with it more than with Widow / Sister Splinter, it was the most difficult boss yet, because it really emphasizes the idea of spacing and precision of movement. And when I thought I got it, I found out it spawns ads as well, classic.

As any boss in souls games, it is a learning process, so after 1 hour I took a break and came back with a fresh mind later and I got it in the end. It's very chaotic because it moves from one side of the arena to the other very quickly and it crosses at different heights.

So it's about precisely knowing the distance you gain from dash, what distances can the boss cover with each attack, etc. I learned that and mastered the fight.

I am so confident after this fight surely any boss from now on will be a walk in the park (Clueless).

I checked the wiki and apparently there is another Beastfly so I'm gonna go to see if I get it in 5 tries maximum.

Movement is everything. I haven't played the first Hollow Knight so this is new to me.

    Cheers

I bought it but haven't played it, I'm waiting to find the time. I've played the first one 3 times and it's one of the best games ever, but I'm afraid based on this post and many others that I won't like Silksong after the first one and that it will be a disappointment. That's why I'm somehow delaying starting to play it even though I bought it a few months ago.

Gotta love that phrasing 😂😂 Update us with your progress though! I think last time I stopped playing was when Hornet got her cape back, but I remember struggling with movements most thing and my chances of winning a boss fight went from 3% to at least 50% when I learnt some of it

    Average Silksong gameplay

@sjuric87 I won't lie, the game can be frustrating and why I call it Indie Dark Souls (likewise, it is a learning curve) but as @rikkimaruuu said: the payoff feels very rewarding and euphoric in the end. I highly recommend trying it out for a bit and if you get too frustrated but still want to play, I think there's a way to mod it to make it easier 🤔

I am back with an update.

I continued exploring and as I have to say this is the worst experience of my life. The game is literally a labyrinth without a map, ever diverging paths, you have 2 paths, you take one hoping it will be a dead end or an item so you know you are done with that so you can explore the other side, but no, from that path there are 3-4 different ways you can go, you choose one, from that the are another 5 different places, it just doesn't end, never.

You go on like that until you reach a damn new zone when you just wanted to understand the layout. And of course, no map, or it's hidden like crazy, good look navigating a f***ing maze without a map.

And I went to check out that other Savage Beastfly. I literally have no words to describe this, this is the worst game I have played in my life.

The Savage Beastfly in the Chapel of the Beast is already difficult, but guess what, they took that and made every single aspect of that fight harder and crazier. Hard is not even the word lmao, as I said, there is a difference between challenging and plain stupid and annoying.

You fight it in the same 5 feet room ofc, no space to move, but this time the ground can be destroyed, I can't recount how many times I died because there was literally NO PLATFORM to stand on, and you fall in lava and take damage.

The beastfly ofc now goes offscreen sometimes and you can't even tell at which height it's coming.

The ads are flying and TAKE 6 HITS TO DIE SIX F***CKING HITS. And ofc they are never under the beastfly to kill them, they are just flying off the edge of the arena firing fireballs at you with a sniper's precision.

But guess WHAT, oh, let's make the fireballs stay on the ground after hitting it so that the player has even less space to move around, great decision.

6 hits to kill, and they are spawned non stop.

I always die when it spawns 2 at the same time, you just can't deal with 6 OR MORE HITBOXES IN A SMALL ROOM. This isn't difficulty, it's plain stupidity and bad design. You have 2 ads, the beastfly, all shooting fireballs or flying around in the arena, the fireball stay on the ground, you have to hit them but you touch their bodies and take damage, it's simply impossible.

Who designs such a boss, who took the normal beastfly and said... HMMM, let's make it much worse in every way imaginable.

I will kill it tomorrow, for my ego, then uninstall the game. I can't believe this 💙💙💙💙 is so overhyper by people. OH OH SILKSONG OH MY GOD. this is the worst 💙💙💙💙 I've played in my entire life, can't belive I paid for this and can't refund.

I have no words to describe my feeling other than disgust towards it.

Sekiro is a good and difficult game and it has many 1v1 bosses, how could they do it? Silksong needs to mask bad game and boss design by adding 3 or more enemies to every single boss fights, every single boss fight is a gank fight with ads shooting stuff and ofc doing their best to avoid your hits, and taking 6 or more hits to kill. THAT IS JUST BAD GAME DESIGN, but they thought by making it pure cancer means it is good.

No, cancer is not challenging, it's just cancer design.

Is it impossible to make a good 1v1 boss? No, you have to pay attention to 5-6-7 things trying to hit you while you fight in a f***ing matchbox of an arena. The devs probably think people have sharingan to track 10 things at the same time.

I WILL GET IT. I WILL KILL IT. Who reads this probably thinks "git gud scrub". I will get it in the end but it is not ENJOYABLE. It is disgusting game design. Can't wait to uninstall. I haven't been so mad in a long long time.

Most of the times I just get caught in between them you can't dodge 3 bodies, 2 shooting fireballs and destroying the platforms and just sweeping the arena non stop, YOU DONT HAVE THE SPACE

    @sjuric87 I don't recommend playing it.

A new day, trying to beat the beastfly again, guess what, I just noticed the ads do DOUBLE DAMAGE.

Ads that take 6 hits to kill shooting unparryable ground lingering projectiles that do 2 DAMAGE.

The devs said, hmm, how can we make this even more obnoxious that it already is? lets make the ads to double damage, same as the boss.

Managed to survive the phase when it summons 2 ads at the same time, killed them, guess what? It keeps summoning 1 second later, you try to jump / dodge the fireballs? well, get hit by the beastfly swooping because YOU HAVE NO FU**ING SPACE TO WORK WITHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

@rikkimaruuu I'll will wait with playing, maybe a patch will come out and balance it all out a bit, there isn mod to make things a little easier. I just don't want to struggling and fighting with the game that much.
