Seriously Lenovo - NEW PEOPLE DON'T NEED TO BE ABLE TO POST 8 NEW POSTS IN 8 MINUTES

Discussion

This is not difficult, so why is it still going on? You have an AI that blocks comments immediately if it even thinks they might contain a word that shouldn't be said, but let people post spam on these forums with no containment at all.

If someone posts a second post within a minute of posting the first one, maybe that means they didn't put ANY effort into it and it should be checked, and maybe if they post 8 in 8 minutes you can just auto block them??

Good idea.

Nice to see it's been dealt with so spam shouldn't be an issue anymore.

PC. Theres no better option for price and versitility. And with playstation ending physical media, being able to always keep files no matter what companies want (even if it requires a tricornered hat) is neat.

What happened to the physical Switch 2 release of the System Shock Remake?

Does anybody know? Nightdive announced it long ago and the digital version is around since December 2025, but where's the physical Cartridge for the Switch 2 that was also announced in their Trailer?
I didn't find any clear information about that, nor any official statement by Nightdive. Has it been delayed? Or completely canceled? 🤷‍♂️

Yeah as Kevin said it looks like it was on pre-order last year for a limited physical run and sold out. Have a look for people selling it on places like Ebay and pray it's not being scalped.

Kevin Torres

Pretty sure it was a limited release with Limited Run Games that has been sold out for a while.

What's one game you want to be remade that probably never will be ?

For me I'd love Grandia to be totally remade (not just remastered) but I can't see it happening any time soon.

It wouldn't even have to be "remade" necessarily, but I would like to see a finished version of Oni. That game had so much potential but was obviously rushed out the door in an unfinished state. Still disappointed all these years later. Lol

Podéis darme consejos para prolongar la vida de la batería de una portátil?

Estoy pensando adquirir un portátil gaming por primera vez y esta es una cuestión que me resulta bastante importante. Gracias de antemano.

The main tip I always hear for long term longevity is not letting the battery go over 80% or under 20%. If you aren't using it for some time, maybe over a week, somewhere around 50% is good for optimal shelf life. Sitting at either 0% or 100% is bad, somehow.

Turn the brightness, volume, and some other settings down if you mean you just want to be able to use it without charging for longer, like car trips and things away from outlets. This is what I always try to do during blackouts.

Lenovo are missing a potential income stream by NOT selling replacement parts for gaming headsets

Discussion

The logic would dictate that they want customers to replace an entire headset when the product is out of warranty and the parts deteriorate. That's fine but when it's wear and tear or temperature related and all you need are some consumables, that is where they have a gaping hole in their parts inventory. Who in their right mind do they expect to pay £50-£80 to replace something that still works but has worn or cracked pads?

IF I could order the replacement 50mm driver pads I need for my Legion H500 Pro I would gladly do so. Instead I have been looking at the prices on Amazon for 3rd party replacements that may not fit correctly and found even those cost as much as the entire headset part of the H500 set. If you weren't aware, the only difference between the H300 and H500 is the USB Amp the headset plugs into via the 3.5mm jack. after that point I can order an H300 for the same price as the pads.

It seems daft to throw out an entire headset because of cracked and splitting pads from usage and ultimately the recent heatwave melting the pleather. They have not been in direct sunlight, it's just been that hot and humid here it weakened the pleather during usage to the point of it flaking off (the ear pads) and splitting on the headband.

Newer models now use fabric instead so I am considering those but they also have a volume control I do not need on the ear piece. One alternative option I am considering is cutting up an old t-shirt and attempting to mod mine to similar result.

I do have another headset from another company (HyperX something or other, not even sure of the model at this point - I won them and they are Gotham Knights themed from when that game launched)

It too could be in an equally bad state by now, I have never looked at them since they got here, Schrödinger's headset at this point...

By todays standards headphones are a fairly simple technology to repair - 3rd party stuff should be available.

Tbh I don't think they'd sell enough to warrant the overhead. For most parts, it would be cheaper to just buy a new one, and headsets aren't overly repairable at the best of times. And you can usually buy pads on places like aliexpress (thats what my brother did for his) Although yeah, they should have first party pads.

I have not played them all, but as far as story, I enjoyed World at War the most. Getting to relive World War 2 through the lens of an American and Russian soldier was a blast. However, I play the zombie mode the most. Sometimes you just want to kill indiscriminately.

J0kerHecz

Treyarch's WAW, BO1, BO2 and BO3 - Mostly for zombies, its incredible and Campaign (Not BO3 tho)

IW's classic MW series - MP and Campaign, both are amazing.

A bit of it is bias: I was playing CoD WAW Zombies on my iPod Touch but never got the full experience until 2010, when I got my PS3 and a copy of MW2, thats where my official introduction to the series began. PS3 gen was where I met my PSN buds (who are still around with me till this day; met my first friend on WAW Zombies Der Riese who funnily enough, we both lived in NYC. We met IRL in 2017, we had a good time, eat some pizza and played some split screen WAW zombies on Der Riese, like old times. Around the time the Moon Zombie map dropped for BO1, I met my group of PSN buds who till this day, are still playing together. We may not have the big group we had back then) had a lot of fun playing Mike Myers or Infected in private lobbies on BO1/2 and MW3. Squad up and do some S&D. Fun times....

I dont think I'll be buying BO1/BO2 for the PS5. Not saying I moved on but my PSN buds already moved from PS to PC. Plus we dont have a big group to do private lobbies like we used to do back in the day. Everyone either went offline entirely, jumped to Xbox or PC, quit gaming or... one's locked up for a heinous crime. As for the one friend who I met IRL, he's still on PS. Maybe if WAW got ported I just might but nah. Then I have to pay for PS+ which then kills the nostalgia for me.

📺 Split Screen VS 🌐 Multiplayer

Online multiplayer is great, but nothing will ever beat the tension of glancing at your friend's screen, tapping their controller to distract them, and seeing where they were on the map 🤣. Good games for light, non continuous gaming on a laptop?

I basically want a game that doesnt require lots of focus, can easily be paused when necessary, and wont tank my battery life. Any reccomendations?

Dead Cells is a good option if you like metroidvanias... doesn't need a powerful laptop and you can quit at any point and return to where you got to.

Thoughts on Sonic Unleashed?

A lot of people knock it for the Werehog levels but tbh Ive always liked the werehog levels more than the day time ones but then again I have a slow reaction time.

CaptWolfKick

I played it on the Wii, and I'm not a Werehog hater, the stages were very noticeably flawed, even for me as a kid. Generally ran too long, and the GOD they needed either more battle music options, or just had it not even interrupt the stage music. I can still hear the horn intro sting and I haven't touched the game in a decade at least.

J0kerHecz

I enjoyed it on the PS2. Couldve complete the PS3 version because I would get a headache. Back in 2025 when they released a recompile version of the game on PC, I finally beat the FULL version of Sonic Unleashed 😭

Now compared to the other Sonic games, definitely not bad or worst when compared to the other Sonic games. I say it's a great game and this might be an unpopular opinion but I enjoyed the Werehog levels.

If you value your family, spend time with them.

Blog/Article

I know people say this all the time but it's rarely heard so I'll say it again.

Time is precious and limited, we all are guilty of getting wrapped up in out own worlds and forgetting about those close to us, there's always tomorrow right?

I'll tell you a little personal story of recent events for me and my family. This is not for pity, it is to serve as a warning to try and not take things for granted.

My Dad has a few health conditions that have made his life very difficult in his later years, colitis to be specific. After his retirement I hounded him to make changes in his life to help him be healthier and so we could all make memories. The short version is, that condition ruined that and has been a hard thing to deal with. Needing to be careful what he eats, always needing to be close to a bathroom... It stopped us doing most things.

Recently he was taken ill, seemed like a bowel blockage, rushed to A&E many scans and tests later he was rushed into surgery, minutes from a rupture and certain death. They found the blockage was a cancerous tumour, had to remove his large bowel and give him a stoma, his appendix, 17 lymph nodes and several parts of his liver... all cancerous. To start with they said it stage 3 and should be perfectly manageable. Tests from the biopsies upped that to stage 4. 6-18 months life expectancy depending on treatment and the roll of the dice.

We've changed the way we do things now, we try to have a family movie night, we went on a random nostalgic caravan holiday all together. We actually interact with each other in a more meaningful way. It's not that we didn't spend time together before, but it's easy not to be 100% present in the moment when you know there's always tomorrow. We've done things as a family we never did before, never tried to arrange things or force a plan. His conditions stopped us in some respects... idleness stopped us finding ways around problems too.

We are ashamed to admit we always thought there was always tomorrow... there's no rush. Nothing puts life into perspective quite as fast as everything being normal... to someone just flipped an hour glass and every second counts.

If you love your family, ask yourself, do you spend enough time with them? Do you actually check in on them? If you got some terrible news about their health or even worse... would you regret not having done more?

Make those plans... pick up the phone... arrange a family dinner. You never know when their number will come up and there are no second chances.

I am sorry for what you and your family are going through. It's very hard and painful. I lost my parents to cancer many years ago. My father and me took care of my mom till she passed. Years later, I became my fathers caretaker till he passed. We all did things together, trips, movies, etc. I miss them terribly and not a day goes by that I don't think of them. It could a place in the house or a object that will trigger a memory. I have my own family now and try to spend as much time as can with them. Making memories. There just doesn't seem to be enough time.

Francis Piantini

Thank you for sharing your valuable reflection with us. More than just eliciting pity, it's a lesson for us all. We must cherish every second, and I hope that you and your family remain strong through everything you're going through, and that those 6 to 18 months turn into many more years 🙌🏼. Be strong, and God bless you.

We Own Nothing + Xbox Reset?

Discussion

An all-digital future upon us?

Digital licenses and downsizing. Both Microsoft and Sony hit us with multiple slices of news that are bad either way you slice it. Xbox is currently "hitting the reset button" impacting 3200 jobs and multiple studios. Meanwhile, PlayStation takes a page from PC's playbook and leans into digital, announcing the end of PlayStation discs in 2028 🤯!

The "Resetting Xbox" message is clear but still devastating nonetheless. On the flip, Sony's announcement really leaves a sour taste in the mouth for players who prefer physical media. Whether it be for pricing or preference - 2028 is the deadline. Switch 2 not looking too bad huh? 😅

I'm all for media ownership, preservation and getting what you paid for.

Let me know, does this directly impact you? Do you prefer digital over physical - why/why not?

Nowadays, since RAM prices have gone through the roof, you're better off finding a good deal for a pre made pc as building one would generally work out more expensive. As an example. I found a supplier online who solely specialises in selling laptops. Brand new warrantied laptops, which worked out £300 cheaper than buying directly from the manufacturer! If you look hard enough, you will find something great!

If you're looking for a cheap desktop, microcenter often has good deals on prebuilts. With component costs where they are today it can actually be cheaper to do a prebuilt sometimes

The Return of Physical Media

Discussion

I just saw another post referencing Sony's move from physical media. There have been many recent articles about the return of physical media. I am a millennial, and I have been on this trend for a while now. I remember the days when Netflix was the only streaming service, and you could watch practically everything there and even get DVD's in the mail as part of the subscription. Articles are even mentioning that Gen-Z is moving this way. I know many people who are also not spending on music or streaming services and buying physical media. I have also been tired of trying to find which streaming service has the movies or music I want to listen to. I've purchased the seasons on DVD or the Cd's. There are many more articles out there.

Is anyone else moving in this direction? If so, what are some of the media types you are moving to? There are even people buying modern music on vinyl.

I've de-cluttered and thrown out most of my physical media. I only read and watch stuff like books and movies once so there's no point in keeping it somewhere in my small home.

I think physical media is neat but it costs a lot and takes up space. Maybe if I were wealthly and had a big home...

I'm an old-timer and I like physical things. I still have many of the albums I bought when I was in high school in the 70's and a ton of cds and even cassette tapes. I still have VHS tapes, although I know their quality has probably degraded. I think I even still have a VHS player somewhere. I do have a record player stereo and can still play my old albums and look at the inserts in the album covers. A lot of my VHS tapes are Disney that I bought when my son was growing up. At that time, Disney would always put out notices that you need to buy now before the vault closes forever. So I did. I haven't played them in years, but even just looking at my collection brings back memories of my son and I watching them together. My hubby and I have quite a few hard cover books - some are first edition collector's copies. Sure, we could get books to read on a tablet, or even audio books, but for me, it's just not the same. I have tons of photos on my smart phone and I like being able to scroll through them and share them, but I never print them. I have tons of actual printed photos from my film cameras from years ago. Granted, they have kind of disappeared into the rest of the "stuff", but I know they are still with me. I am a very sentimental person and I guess for me, having physical things is just very sentimental and nostalgic. I don't get that same feeling from steaming a movie or reading a book on a tablet, or playing music from my phone.

I mean at the moment, there's nothing new from AMD worth putting in there unless I missed something. The new Intel APU seems like a solid uplift over the Z2 extreme IIRC. So we could see a switch to Intel for the APU, or maybe a custom chip from AMD? Who knows.

Do you think older disc based games (PS3/4/5) will go up in value now that discs are on borrowed time?

There's a lot of content on older platforms that might be lost when we go only digital. Imagine a game that gets pulled/banned and you get a copy (think Concord) -- there's going to be no more of those moments.

Most retro games tend to always appreciate in value. The only disc games realistically still in print PlayStation wise are PS4 and PS5. Whilst no new games will be printed in 2028, games already released can receive further orders for discs to be printed, so it's highly unlikely they'll go up anytime soon due to discs no longer being printed.

Yes, probably. Especially the expensive Collector Edition's. Physical Media and Game Preservation was always very important, and for precisely the reasons we see everywhere today.
