Will you buy a digital only Playstation 6?

Going to be a hard sell if the console is over $1000. And with so few first party Playstation games this generation, I don't see how they will crank them out any faster for 6. And I don't think they will get the sales numbers they need to survive.

And I do not know how they will compete with Steam.

Rather just buy a cheap laptop and run games on low. Ps6 gotta have an insane catalog for me to even think about wanting it

Playstation to stop production of game discs

Discussion

End of an era. PlayStation is stopping disc production in 18 months. It's pretty interesting that the likes of Gamestop managed to survive longer than physical media. Do you think Nintendo and Xbox will follow Sony's lead? I'm pretty sure the next Xbox will drop the disc drive as well. The next gen Nintendo might be the only one with physical games.

How do you feel about this? For me, physical games were one of the main selling points of consoles.

nightmare for collectors sigh.

It will make gaming more expensive. A lot of people buy physical knowing it will hold some value in the future to sell and buy another game.

Liquid Metal fears

Discussion

I haven't upgraded to a ps5 yet & been holding off in hopes of building my first legit gaming PC for years. Then I was finally ready this year but the rampocalypse happened & I'm back to thinking maybe I'll stay console for now. Regardless-- the liquid metal freaks me out, after reading horror stories of silver liquid just leaking through systems and onto surfaces. Is it really that unstable? And are certain models more prone than others?

I have heard some of the GPUs for PCs used liquid metal, and depending on the orientation of it in the case, people had issues with it leaking out. Not sure where the QA testing was for these devices. I don't think many vendors have switched to it, and I have only heard of some GPUs with it. If building or buying, I would just do some research on forums to see if that model has issues.

I've repasted a couple cpu's with liquid metal. It does give you a few degrees, but I ended up thinking it wasn't worth the effort, really. I just don't run my rig that hard to actually get any real advantage from the deliding process.

Playstation State of Play June 2026

Discussion

What were you most excited about? I was disappointed with no VR. Surprised still no GTA 6.

I already knew I was getting Wolverine. Looks great.

I really like the new additions to Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls and now I put that on my must buy list. Magneto, Green Goblin, Carnage, Doom SOLD

Finally a new Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. How long has it been?

Until Dawn 2 doesn't look as high budget as the first. But I love those type of games.

So was anything a stand out for you?

I was excited that they had a release date for No Rest 4 the Wicked! My buds only have a console, so now we can try it out later this year!

J0kerHecz

Seeing some more of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, yessir!

But confirmed release dates for AC8, Control Resonant, Phantom Blade, Silent Hill Townfall and Onimusha Way of the Sword which they dropped a demo for PC today, downloading that rn but Im very happy to see all these games Im interested in coming later this year. Funny that the plague that is GTAVI, pushed these developers to release their games in September and October, avoiding November. Oh and Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis also got a release date but early next year.

Man this September and October, Im going to be broke 😅

What's your PS game you recommend everyone should play at least once?

Discussion

Is there a PS game that you recommend every Playstation owner should play at least once?

For me personally, I would say The Last of Us as it's an amazing blend of gaming and cinema. They do an amazing job at telling a great story.

Either TLOU or Resident Evil 4

J0kerHecz

Gravity Rush, always Gravity Rush. Another would be Astro Bot. And God of War 3 Remastered.

Definitely not TLoU. I say this because it feels like almost everyone on PS has played it. Its an easy movie-game to get into. Story is good but the MP is where its at.

PlayStation exclusives vs performance — what matters more to you?

Discussion

One thing I’ve always associated with PlayStation is strong exclusives, but when comparing with PC or other platforms, performance can be different.

So I’m curious:

If you had to choose, would you rather have access to great exclusives or better performance (FPS, settings, etc.)?

Performance for sure

PlayStation exclusives. Without them just get a pc if you want performance.

Out of all of the playstation consoles which was your favorite?

My favorite playstation console is probably the PS1 for all of the now classic games it featured. Which was yours and why?

It's crazy that my ps3 is still going after all this time-- 2 decades!. It's quite a tossup but I guess I'll say the ps3 given how much more time I spent on it & obv all the upgrades from ps2; it even traveled across the country with me and back over the course of years. However, ps2 was what many of us xennials & millennials really leveled up with in the day.

CarlosAlfondo

I'm a bit of a nostalgic...

The PSOne was my first console—I bought it myself, back when I was living alone in my first apartment...

Endless hours playing Silent Hill, Tomb Raider, Gran Turismo... with nothing and no one to hold me to any limits...

SkullKidsRevenge

RE is great, plenty of replayability if you like challenges and trying differnt things. Can't comment on Pragmata, but I really enjoyed the latest RE entry. Much better than 7 and 8 IMO.

Playstation Needs Better Security

Discussion

It's so easy for hackers to takeover an account just by providing a transaction ID. There has go to be a better way of authenticating it's you.

J0kerHecz

Not even 2FA helped keep the hackers out. Not saying take it off but Ive seen reports of players who had this on and yet hackers got into their accounts.

Ever since the 2011 hack, I never trusted Sony enough to keep my info safe; never connected my debit card or Paypal (When it became supported later on in I believe during the PS4 era or this gen). I would buy PSN giftcards and use that to buy games or DLC. I hated paying for PS+ when it became mandatory. "But this is for better servers", PS3 free online was BETTER. And not to mention, Sony is a billion dollar company, why dont they pay up?? Nope, the wool covering people's eyes, they just accepted this scam. And Im right for being cautious; over the years, PSN still ends up going down and no word from Sony themselves... But hey, that PS+ price hike tho, this company I swear man 😒

SkullKidsRevenge

Sony have been pretty slow on updating their protocols for a long time.

Worth buying a PS5 pro or a PS6 (if there is one coming out)?

Discussion

I have a PS5, initially bought it solely for Bloodborne. In the past, both Sony and Microsoft were trying to beat each other in the console war, which is largely won by Sony now. That was why they had so many exclusive games on their own console. However, things have changed.

Halo is releasing on PS5 and PlayStation exclusives ,like The Last of Us and the God of War, are released on Steam. Would there still be any exclusives on either Xbox or PlayStation? If not, is PS5 pro still worth buying? Or a PS6 if it is coming out in 2028?

16
View 27 more replies

I would recommend PS5 Slim. The PS5 Pro really needs to be paired with a really good TV and the price premium is nuts (and it doesn't even come with a disc drive)

If you have a top of the line 4K tv get a PS5 Pro.

Current Leaked Information About PS6

Discussion

As what I have read from the leaked information, the cost of manufacturing one PS6 is about $760. If Sony plans to make some profit out of the console itself, the price will probably go around $800-900. Even if Sony want to keep the current market share, its price will not be under $600, which also means personalized pricing and higher subscription fee of PS plus.
What do you guys think?

2

If the PS5 Pro is now $899.99, the PS6 will not come out lower. Plus build prices will probably increase by the time it goes into production, especially with energy prices in Asia.

Sony and Microsoft have never sold consoles at cost. I think The Switch 2 is the first time Nintendo didn't. They plan for subscriptions and exclusives sells to cover hardware losses.

Are you excited for the release of PSSR 2.0 for the PS5 Pro?

Discussion

Are you excited for the release of PSSR 2.0 for the PS5 Pro? Has PSSR 2.0 changed your mind about getting a PS5 Pro?

The results have been pretty spectacular for Resident Evil Requiem. What game that was using PSSR 1.0 do you think will have the most improvements?

2
View 1 more replies

My mind changed terrible experience with Asus G16 5070Ti laptop with buggy Nvidia drivers and even more problematic Windows, so I decided to get back to PS5 Pro (as I had one on day one in 2024 November, but sold it right after failure PSSR1 release, and went with PC).

So I bought PS5 Pro a few weeks ago, before PSSR 2 was confirmed to be released in March, and then a few weeks later Sony actually did that, so yeah I'm excited a bit, because I have a few games I dropped due to terrible image quality with PSSR1.

If only Sony could give us more precise date instead of "sometime in March", then waiting would be less overwhelming 😅. I know it will happen eventually, and I have other things to do, but I guess it will be released in upcoming week, right before or with Crimson Desert, but I wouldn't mind to get it tomorrow on Monday, but also I trying to keep my expectations and excitement as low as possible, because after Sony's "greatest" PSSR1 failure, I don't wanna be disappointed twice 👍🏻

Disc or Digital: Which PS5 fits the Legion lifestyle?

Discussion

Hey Legion fam, I’m torn between the sleek, minimalist Digital Edition and the Standard Disc model for my setup and need your expert take. While the Digital saves cash upfront and looks cleaner, the Standard offers long-term value through second-hand deals, 4K Blu-ray support, and physical game sharing. Are you Team Digital for the convenience, or do you think the disc drive is essential for game preservation and swapping titles with friends?

Legion Go 2 vs Xbox ally vs PsP2?

Discussion

I've heard PlayStation will have a new handheld soon. I'm curious what everyone is more excited for. What are you all looking forward to as far as gaming handhelds?

I'm genuinely interested in a new PsP. But a Legion Go 2 with SteamOS installed is still my #1 pick. It would be even better if RDNA 3 officially supported FSR 4.

You think the new psp will have RDNA 4 or 5?

Sony really messed up with the portal. They should have invested in a full handheld instead of the streaming device. If they do make a new handheld, I will 100% get it. Thier PSP and PSVita were both amazing, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

A - R

The Ally X is just too much money just for Xbox style grips. Portal 2 will likely be limited to PS5/Pro streaming so its use case is very limited. Legion Go 2 will be fairly pricy also but out of the three has the most versatility and performance on offer. I would also look at the original go if you can find it at a decent price it still holds up well.

Portal experience with Wifi

Discussion

I have heard that PS Portal is only good when you hook up the ps5 to ethernet. That's not option for me due to my apartment'ts layout, so I was wondering if the experience is indeed unusable for wifi users. Any experiences?

I play mine straight from the cloud, works great.

AdvancedWarfare

I don't have and have never used a PlayStation portal before, but I have done cloud gaming through Xbox and Stadia (yes, I unironically played on there when it existed) over WiFi and it was pretty playable. A little blurry, but the input lag wasn't too bad. You want to use the 5 GHz WiFi frequency for cloud gaming, 2.4GHz is unplayable.

Portal streaming

Discussion

Anyone just have the portal and using the premium to stream without the PS5?

I have 2 PS5 one slim, one pro. But I use my PS Portal to stream straight from the cloud, it works great.

I did this for my Legion Go.

Playstation Exclusives that need PC or Remaster love?

Discussion

Quick little background about myself I am primarily a Playstation gamer, I have been my whole life since the PS2. The one thing that kept me on Playstation were the IPs created under the Playstation banner God of War, Uncharted, Infamous etc. Now it seems we are in an era where console exclusivity is dying and I am glad Sony is allowing access to some of there big budget exclusive games on PC now as it prevents media being lost.

The PS3 has so much trapped within its ecosystem that needs to be freed and I imagine I am not alone in this thought and many of those games are trapped and it seems they have been forgotten which is why I believe they should be ported over to the PC side of things at the very least. I have dabbled in emulation a little bit and I must say the work to preserve these titles is nothing short of a miracle however, one big caveat is that it only provides access to titles as they were developed on the hardware at the time and sometimes games do not age well as a result. Along with that performance will also be identical to how it was and I am talking about things like capped FPS, forced motion blur etc. which makes reliving the experience of these games suboptimal.

So this is where I will ask what are some titles trapped on older hardware you would love to see have a proper comeback beyond emulation.

Assassin's Creed has a lot of older titles that could use a makeover for modern platforms. I love the Ezio trilogy, but the original still shines as a great example of action RPGing that I'd love to see modernized!

How about a new Armored Core game?

Discussion

Don't get me wrong, Fires of Rubicon is a pretty cool title. But I'm not interested in waiting a decade for another title! Any other AC fans here, any thoughts on the franchise future?

(Keanu Reeves in a short film doesn't count!)

5
Jessica Evans

I'm eager to play through Armored Core 4 and 4 answer. 5 I think does not work anymore due to lack of online. I've only beaten 1 and 6, but I did beat 1 around the time it came out. I've played 2 and 3 as well. I am not very good at the series, so being able to S rank all of 6 made me feel good.

I love the ideas the series plays with. They are off-the-shelf sci-fi, but never assembled wrong. The references to mythology and earth symbolism peppered throughout it imply depth but are usually somewhat opaque, however, FromSoftware's experience with Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and Bloodborne have given them enormous acumen in combing this type of storytelling with games as a form.

Oh this is a new one for me, will have to check it out!

I've got 33 Platinums. I try to get them for most games but not if it requires something boring or stupid. I think FFVII Remake was the hardest as you have to complete a playthrough without using items. I didn't bother with Platinum for Rebirth as I didn't enjoy the mini-games.
