So I made a post a while back about my curse with Legion products. Specifically my high end machines.

Well, I had to send my machine away again due to thermal throttling at any load after a dept repair. Before that I had sent Premium Care and EMEA a lot of evidence of the machine throttling at start up and under any kind of load.
Firstly, despite the video being from my phone so you can clearly see where the laptop is and how it behaves. I was told that wasn't evidence enough. 102c at 30-50w... yes OK. Funny I had this machine 8 months before failure and this NEVER happened. My first machine wasn't great and I exchanged that one. My girls machine is perfect. At stock settings with Stock TIMs and just max fans:

This was after a full power CB23 run. Her machine is immaculate. This one with Liquid metal did the same run at 76c

Anyway, apparently the depot "tested" my machine and it only hits 102c. Thing is, I have no idea what their "test" actually is, it does not actually tell you at what wattage, length of time or even level of throttling. I sent evidence of games having the machine throttle upto 80% on cores at 102c. Temps may be "in spec" but the level of performance sure as hell is not. The machine before failure scored 40k in CB23 at about 96c while stock IIRC. The new machine does 35k at 105c. EMEA are trying to tell me... an enthusiast user of 8 months, that this is normal behaviour. Even going as far as trying to tell me that the fault is Legion Tool Kit.

Fun fact, my set up has LTK disable Space and use the same controls in the EC. Meaning it doesn't actually change anything that the CPU does in a detrimental manner. It works the exact same way Space does, only with no bloat and a better UI. The profile they claim was the issue was a custom profile that is basically the same power limits on the CPU as balanced and the GPU having full power with elevated fan curves. So 8 months of no issues and suddenly LTK is causing erratic CPU temps CONVIENIENTLY after a failed repair. I am fairly certain their "engineer" tried running Space and LTK at the same time, encountered difficulties, I mean like you would when 2 control softwares are trying to tell the EC what to do at the same time. Then after removing LTK, it "behaved normally". Ironically, the reported issue was never hardware failure or strange running... it was purely the thermals being out of spec for the machine calibre.

Modern CPUs will throttle back heavily to save from thermal run away. so purely seeing 102c and saying "within spec" is diabolical when that can come at the cost of performance via throttling that at that point should never be taking place.

To see a company I once trusted pull scapegoat tactics and trying to insult the intelligence of consumers assuming they don't know anything about the machine to try and brush them off with excuses like "temps are in Intel's spec" is flat disgusting. I will be fighting this case and I will certainly be chasing a refund if this is how Lenovo and EMEA carry on with failed repairs.
