Which is the best controller for fortnite?

Parents
  • Lol, this is an old post... But since we're necroing... Mouse and keyboard! Rofl

To me, FPS games are best when played with a mouse - there's no aim assist so everything goes to your aiming skills.

  • Agree. There's nothing better than mouse and keyboard.

  • There is if you have essential tremor like me or any other physical impediment, a regular mouse is a no-go for gaming because I'd be all over the place. I do have a vertical mouse which helps a lot but not to the extent I could aim in FPS with it. The vertical mouse does allow me to use Photoshop though and carry out normal navigation of the windows UI, web pages etc.

So I'll stick with my controllers which are more accessible even if I do give away some reaction time over the mouse and keyboard combo

One solution doesn't fit all, quite literally with regards keyboard sizes and switches too. So I for one am grateful we can all pick and choose from such a wide range of accessories these days.

  • I can relate a little bit here. For me, it took years to find a keyboard I even remotely liked due to most I ever knew about having large keys and long travel distances. Part of this could be my exposure only really being to laptop keyboards so it's what I'm always used to, but when I found the G815 Linear it helped when upgrading and transitioning when I got my T5. Without getting into specifics, I can only really handle these form factors and tend to use my Xbox controller when possible for less strain when gaming. I'm thinking about buying a wrist cushion too as I'm used to the extended "chin" under the laptop keyboards. It sucks that it's something I can't change but I do the most with what I can and make changes as needed.

  • Ooh, that G815 looks so sleek!

What are your pros/cons of the keyboard?

My current keyboard has large keys, but it has the wrist rest. G815 looks comfortable. Is it easy to clean (or things get stuck between the keys)? It looks like you could clean it up just by blowing at it. Also, do keys tend to pop off when you lift/hit them or are they firm enough?

I haven't upgraded my keyboard in a long time now. Sweat smile

  • Wow, thanks for the insight. I didn't even consider medical reasons to prefer a controller to mouse and keyboard.

  • I love it and I've been eyeing it for years. I never saw a reason to get it due to space, cost and being perfectly content with a laptop keyboard but it's been wonderful so far (besides needing to get used to typing on it lol).

Pros is it feels great to type on. My expectation for travel time and noise were about where I had hoped. I was worried it wouldn't be comfortable without a wrist rest but it feels great to use. I also really enjoy having full keyboards as I'm always used to them and having the multimedia keys, volume wheel, and 5 programmable keys comes in handy. Being able to switch gaming profiles on the fly is great too but I never got a chance to utilize it so far. Lastly, being able to plug my mouse right into the keyboard is great as it eliminates the need to guess and check plugging it into the back of the tower lol.

The only cons I have right now is it not including a detachable wrist rest, not having the G1-5 keys be their own keys (I've had to map them to Function keys not already present on the keyboard) and being hard to see the Shift options for certain keys very well.

I haven't really needed to clean it yet, but it seems fairly easy. The keys are close to each other but there's enough room underneath to clean if needed. I haven't taken any keys off for fear of breaking them and I don't have a removal tool so I can't go much into depth with that lol.

If you're able to go somewhere and test some keyboards out in person, I recommend doing that. I did that with this keyboard and felt the best from the others available. I also tend to try and keep most of my equipment the same to avoid communication issues and have it paired with a G203 Lilac.

  • Thanks for the lengthy review! Smile

Yeah, that seems like comfort/ergonomics issue, but the keys look comfortable. You could probably get some wrist rest to attach to it, tho.

You seem to like the G keys, but I'd probably ditch them from the keyboard layout. They need the whole column just for them so the keyboard gets wider for just 5 keys - not a really good trade off.

G203 isn't an ergonomic mouse - did you try out some ergo mice?

  • Nah I haven't considered trying such mice. I don't feel I need to but I give respect where it's due as it does help people. I'm already so used to the regular formfactor that it would take ages for me to get used to another and I don't wanna spend the money on it lol
