Legion 7i - Always Plugged In

Hello,

I have recently received my new Legion 7i and will be using it as a replacement for my desktop at home. The laptop will constantly be plugged in for power and I was wondering if there is anything I need to be aware of when it comes to the battery? Is it good to have the laptop plugged in permanently? I watched a YouTube video that said there is a setting within the Lenovo Vantage app that can stop charging the battery at 100% which can extend battery life, I cannot find such a setting.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Finally, can I change my username on this website? Can't seem to find the option.

Kind reagrds,

Luke

  • It's definitely not a good idea to have the laptop plugged in permanently, but that being said, they are making batteries 'smarter' to work around this. Still, I would let your laptop run its battery down every once in a while, and don't keep it continuously plugged in for longer than a day or two.

If you download Lenovo Vantage, you can open up the 'power' tab and it should have a few settings there that you can choose from. The one you're looking for is most like 'conservation mode', which helps preserve battery life while the laptop is plugged in, but again, I don't think this is foolproof in terms of protecting battery life. I believe your computer itself will remind you that it has been plugged in for too long, so keep an eye out for that notice as well.

As for username changes, that might be a good idea! Check the 'profile' or 'settings' options in the top right of the screen by your username... or user numbers in your case Upside down
