  • Title: "PROJECT Workstation to Battlestation"

So, this may be a longwinded response, we'll call it Project workstation to battlestation. I am going to include my current workstation which is one with a very long overdue needed refurb but due to current finances, it works with what i need it to and for that i am grateful! The second will be my aim/dream battlestation.

-Firstly, in the primary picture, we will call it a workstation on a budget. We can see a brilliant desk i got half price! It has 2 levels and to which i added an additionally laptop stand to protect my fragile neck. The primary laptop in use is a macbook pro i got when i started uni in 2016, the longevity of these laptops has been brilliant as it's been overused for uni as i'm now almost finishing my phd, as well as work projects relating to graphic design and also hobbies, mainly producing beats. My keyboard and mouse are bluetooth to which i treated myself recently due to sales, very basic pair of logitech. I think recently realised the desk i purchased was too small for my additional rented uni laptop and midi controller (for producing music purposes as i had to treat myself for my birthday with it after a few years of putting it off). So i went to ikea and purchased a shelf and some stands, borrowed a drill and extended the desk sideways, which i was pleasantly surprised with and kinda impressed myself. I was working with the awful uncomfortable chair kept in the picture for comparison, and recently managed to get a cheap decent cushioned office chair on amazon, so my back is thankful. It is currently day time so the photo isn't the best but once it's darker and i have my purple mood lighting on, and my lavender diffuser, and my dog pestering me, it's quite chill!

-Second, the dream has long been to get a PC, but with prices it's just not been possible as of yet. The dream is for wooden stand up desk as arthritis is unfortunately rife in my knees! And honestly, for a half decent PC that will run games and more powerful graphic design / music producing software so i can do what i love and maybe one day pursue a career in music producing without the stress of software crashes, slow connections and possibly dabble more in the possibility of streaming on the side with my friends, both for enjoyment and to entertain. I would probably opt for 2 screens as i am ALWAYS doing 2 or more things at once, and then i would be so happy to only use my macbook for on the go work/uni research to save it's poor battery life (then a great backpack to carry it around in haha). On top of this, i'd love a smoother keyboard as when it comes to typing fast this one is quite stiff and loud, and maybe a more ergonomic mouse so my arthritic hands don't cramp when i have things to get done haha! This goes for maybe a slightly better ergonomic office chair NOT gaming chair for my back! Even though it's a dream battlestation, i keep it to the simple end of the spectrum as i want it to be a possibility sooner rather than later! A quick design below demonstrates this, i would keep my basic midi controller as i love it and would probably only need to add more expensive software to the pc to get more 'refined' use out of it, so the other upgrades and additions to my dream battlestation would be superficial things like software. As it is still a dream battlestation i'll add one thing that's more a want than a need, and that would probably be a ps5 and a steering wheel for driving games (I currently have an on the brink of death ps4 pro that does a brilliant job so it's definitely a want than a need). A quick google of these types of setups were done and this would be most similar to what i'd one day hope to achieve:

    the basics

This image has the basics but picture an ergonomic office chair not a gaming chair! and then with the added music producing vibe of the next photo:

    music setup

So the added speakers, space for the midi controller to be out when in use and to the side when working. Simple yet effective type of battlestation, one day!

Also cannot forget, a luxurious dog bed as my black lab likes to be by my side when i'm doing work and he's watching me right now so adding this for his peace of mind.
