To get things started, we’ve added a smattering of Game of the Year reviews from your oh-so-loveable Community Managers! Check them out below!

Daniel Cox, UK Community Manager: Overwatch 2

For me, Overwatch 2 is the premier multiplayer experience right now. The exquisitely unique visual style is underpinned by finely tuned map designs and For me though, it's Overwatch 2's minute-to-minute gameplay that is the crowning jewel. Many of today's biggest FPS titles require you to calculate your best attachment/loadout combinations, culminating in a plus ça change feeling of homogeneity.  Not so with Overwatch 2: it's so refreshing to be able to jump into a game with a gloriously varied roster of characters, each with their own pre-defined distinct identity and playstyle. Who do I want to roll with today: Orisa? Reaper? Moira? I don't know, but whoever I pick, I know it's going to be an absolutely unique blast!

Ben Green, Senior US Community Manager: Elden Ring

A lot of amazing titles released this year, but it's hard not to pick Elden Ring as my GOTY! Elden Ring was actually my first-ever Souls game, and man... I couldn't have picked a better title to jump into! Just about everything in the game is phenomenal - visual design, music, combat, progression, and the utter scale of the game. It's an experience that I won't forget anytime soon, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else FromSoftware has in store with DLC for the game.

This competition is open to UK/EU residents only, and closes on 6th January at 11:59PM GMT. You can find the full T&Cs here.

  • Well, my favorite game released in 2022 is Tunic. For me it is the best because it reminds me of old games but in a new and polished style. I love the way it looks, the soundtracks, the peaceful feeling it gives while also being quite challenging. I love playing it with my wife and I already collected some good memories with it!

  • Good luck everyone! And my favourite game of 2022 is by far Valorant! I was on Sea of Thieves, which I dropped for the lack of content, did a bit of Rocket League, but it was to play with friends, and now I've been playing Valorant for the last 6 months, and been loving it.
The community is mostly great, really nice people you can play with, made a lot of friends on it (a few toxic people but as long as you can filter them out, it's nice). I enjoy the different agents, the complexity of their roles and the unique gameplay it offers, compared to other FPS. The teamplay is really nice when you can get a good team together. The game gets updates very regularly, the competitive scene is really interesting, new metas appear with balancing modifications, learning a new agent is always interesting as it gives you more insight on how to counter it.
And I'm currently waiting for the new animation to come out, as it is being premiered in 15 minutes, but oh boy these are great! Having a background and actual meaning to the game, to what is happening, a nice lore makes it so much interesting!
I'm getting into comp games recently, with the group of friends I built up in the last months, and playing with an objective makes it very interesting, and you get literally chills in games! :D

  • I haven't played many games released this year, as per usual. But out of the few i played i really enjoyed High on Life. The humour was right up my alley, the gameplay was really fun and the unique weapons were great! The only thing that really bogged it down was the mediocre story but that's easily ignorable.

  • forr me this game will be the god of war ragnarök. What should i say. Amazing game, great gameplay, great story, wonderfull sountrack, no paid dlcs. The game is perfekt. Wouldn't want that anything will be changed in the game. Have enjoyed every moment of the game.

  • I have been a huge fan of the Pokemon series for a long time, and Pokemon Legends: Arceus has quickly become one of my favorite games in the franchise and my game of the year (even though it did not win!). The gameplay is fast-paced and enjoyable, with a wide variety of Pokemon to catch and train. The open-world setting is a great change of pace for the series, and I loved exploring the vast region of the game.

But what really sets Pokemon Legends: Arceus apart is the depth and variety of the Pokemon available in the game. From classic favorites to rare and mythical Pokemon, there is something for every type of trainer to enjoy. The game also introduces new gameplay mechanics and features that enhance the experience of catching and battling with Pokemon.

If you are a Pokemon fan like me, this game is a must play.
