Unusually High Number of Entries (+16,312.7%) in the Final Hours — March 2023 Giveaway — Legion 7 Slim

I took screenshots to record my entries.  By doing that, I also captured the total entries for the giveaway.  Over 7 days, the average hourly entries were +46.58.

But, over the final 15 hoursthe average hourly entries jumped to +7,644.35a +16,312.7% increase (164×"Normal").

Can anyone explain this, please?

Here are my data and calculations:

  • Hello M0rn, it's interesting to see the analysis of something like this. In some ways, it can give an additional perspective into the giveaway systems that Lenovo and Legion attempt to incorporate. I've been in this community for around 4 years now and witnessed the many attempts to make entries fair and accessible for members to partake in alongside doing as much as possible to weed out bots, botters, and scalpers that are a plague to every community and many giveaways. Unfortunately, in the majority of cases, there's only so much that can be done to prevent bad actors from participating in things like this. Still, I can confidently say that Ben and the team involved in these events are doing the most they are able with the tools they are given to make these as seamless and protected as possible. Any constructive feedback is always welcome as Ben and the team have tried a few different methods of giveaways, so if you have any ideas as to how to potentially drive a better entrant experience, please feel free to share them! You are one of many who share the same concerns and I'd rather open the floor to something positive than use this space to devalue them. Any insight is helpful, even the potentially obvious Smile

  • Cheers,  .  I appreciate the suggestion.

I plan to suggest possible remedies.  Without more data, unfortunately, I believe they would be too scattershot to be useful.

Hopefully, more data is coming.  If I do not receive more data, however, I will do my best to consolidate my hypotheses and suggest their remedy.

Whether or not anyone will be interested in addressing them, I have my doubts.
