Old but gold, games that have withstood the test of time

Hey folks, what are some games that you still play that have exceeded their 10th birthday?

Personally, I've made use of some emulators on PC that have allowed me to play some Playstation 2 era games. Those include The original Ratchet and Clank trilogy, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, and even some old terrible MTX/ATV games I loved when I was younger.

Beyond the games themselves, what have you been playing them on? A friend of mine still has a working SNES, and before the lockdown was in effect we'd often hang out and play Donkey Kong Country together. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • Old but good games... For me, the Command and Conquer series (we won't talk about RA3 or C&C4,) City of Heroes (with the Homecoming team doing their thing and running a stable environment,) and when I can - though I haven't reinstalled it for a bit, need to get a CD drive hooked back up - Myth: The Fallen Lords. Missionforce: Cyberstorm works, too. (Yeah. I have some kind of old ones...)

  • Still, all Halo FPS have stood the test of time. Hated the ODST campaign, though. So hard to understand everything when your brain is the size of a walnut.

Absolutely agree on the Halo games holding up, especially with 343i keeping the Master Chief Collection up and running. Interesting that you hated the ODST campaign though, it seems like most people love it (myself included, mostly). What specifically turned you off of it?

  • I played it when I was like 11 or 12, so it was really hard to keep the story straight. Ever since then, I couldn't return to it due to that one negative experience. I personally think Reach was one of the best campaigns, though.
