Happy Gaming Day!!! 2, vs 5.1 vs 7.1 sound in videogames, taking in to account price and benefit what do you guys chose and why?

Everybody talks about graphics, screens, laptop/pc specs, even RGV accessories but what about sound/music in video games. Does it worth pay more for a 7.1 audio system?

Funny story, I have a 5.1 Logitech audio system but when I got it, never cross my mind that may laptop don’t have a 5.1 audio output, for a long time I use it with the standard aux port (2 channels) but I just got an external usb sound card to try it out, wish me luck!

  • I prefer the 7.1 audio for the best experience, but once you have kids you're lowering volume and relying more on subtitles anyway hahaha.

  • I'm perfectly happy with good quality old fashioned stereo - I'm old school like that...

  • I would take the 7.1 sound as the best, however space, family, and cost have me at stereo or subtitles at the moment.

  • I prefer 5.1 but usually in a headset to save space. I had a 4.1, and then a 5.1 speaker setup and it was fantastic.

  • I thinks it's noticeable if you have enough high end gear to make it noticeable. Otherwise what ever works for you.

  • Any sound is good. I'd put it last on the list because how the game runs, looks, feels matters more to me than how it sounds

  • Play games without headphones on?  Is this possible?  What is this sorcery?   (Jk.  But with kids and lack of space, I haven’t play a game without headphones in what seems like forever)

  • I don't notice much difference

  • Either is fine. I can only tell the difference via headset anyway.
