What do you aim to get out of the games you play?

Recently I got my PS5, and so far (mostly due to time) I've only been able to play the new Ratchet and Clank, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. I've found myself on both of these games going for every collectable, completing every side mission, and generally trying to experience all of the content the game has to offer.

When you all play games, do you tend to lean towards a completionist mindset? Or do you enjoy the main story, then move onto your next game on the backlog?

  • For single player games, I tend to just get through the main story unless I REALLY like the game (Ori series for example).
The biggest motivator for me tends to be the social aspect, so I'm very competitive focused and love playing games in a group Slight smile

  • I am enjoy the main story.

  • Gotta beat everybody.

  • Ikr? Sometimes you wish there was just a movie mode.

  • I personally think that if you try to get every little thing, you'll burn yourself out and never complete the actual game. So I just go for the primary story line.

  • Main story like everybody else preferred. The sides and online / multiplayer looks cool, but nah. There are games that are more suitable for multiplayer for me.

  • Main story usually...I don't think I've ever been interested in getting every accolade, etc.

  • This is a great question!

For me, it really depends on the specific game. If I am playing multiplayer on something like COD, I'm just looking for good games to get lost in without having to think too much. For strategy games or puzzle games, I'm going for completion. Based on my own time constraints these day (I'm here procrastinating and invoking the muses to help me in my writing), I have a huge backlog of games that I want to play. Therefore, most of the games that I play or start nowadays are smaller in scope or zonk out multiplayer action things. I can't wait to get back into the really good games, though.

    Game on!

  • If it's not a simulator game but it's a single player game, I always aim to finish it completely. Like, it gives me anxiety just the fact that I haven't finished it yet.
If it's multiplayer, well... Time to enter in hardcore mode and do my best.

  • When I was younger I would try to 100% every game I played, but now I no longer have the time nor the drive. I enjoy games for their story. I would do both the main and side quest without ever carrying about collectibles. Instead of 100% a game I would rather play as many games as I can fit into the time I have.
