Are laptops really for gaming?

Desktops are more powerful than laptops that cost the same and laptops are throttled when they aren't plugged in... so if you're gaming on a laptop it should be plugged in for the best performance. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a gaming laptop? Should laptops for gaming  be a serious choice if you're a serious gamer?

  • I mainly play games on a laptop. Yeah it is more expensive and your have to plug in, but my life has been kind of hectic recently. Having the capability to just plug and play your laptop at a new home or at a friend's without having to set up a tower, keyboard, and monitors is really helpful and nice!

  • I agree with this here. Gaming laptops prize themselves for being easy to move around and that's a huge advantage if you are always moving too.
