Upgrading an older PC

My system is close to 7 years old. Was wondering if upgrading just the nvidia 1060 would be enough to play new AAA titles at full HD and 120+ fps or am I better off just buying a new system

    Both CPUs and GPUs have come a long way since 2016. If you compare Skylake-S CPUs back then, with only PCIe 3.0 and DDR4, to an Alder Lake or a Raptor Lake CPU today, with PCIe 5.0 and possibly DDR5, upgrading to an entire newer system sure will make a world of difference overall, when compared to only upgrading a GPU on that older hardware of yours.
