Battery life vs performance in laptops

For those of us with gaming laptops, we know the battery life sucks compared to most business oriented products. Would you be willing to trade off a bit of performance for better battery life overall? I would love to see the ability to turn off the GPU all together on battery, down clock the CPU, and just run integrated graphics on battery. What are your thoughts?

  • Definitely would not do the trade off. Computer is plugged in one spot most of the time anyway.

  • I wouldn't. My experience with a gaming laptop for school and research was that I would never game without it being plugged in. My laptop would last about 7 hours for my normal workload, but If I was gaming it would be about 3 hours at max settings. I was just never in a situation where I couldn't just have my laptop charging if I was gonna game for an extended period of time.
