Modder Spends More than 3,000 Hours Translating Classic RPG Into Japanese

Now that's fan service.

Planescape: Torment is a PC RPG classic that offers a localized experience across English, French, German, Korean, Polish, and Czech in its Enhanced Edition. Any Japanese players wishing to play were out of luck, unless they knew another language of course. I say were, because one hardcore volunteer has spent 3,000 hours translating the game for the Japanese audience.

For anyone who wishes to do so, you can find the files and such here.

It’s an incredible undertaking, and it’s always heart-warming to see fans go to such lengths to make classics available to as wide an audience as possible; just another reminder of how generous the gaming community can be!
