With everything that's been going on at Arkane Studios and Xbox lately, I've been thinking about what the future looks like for the studio. Arkane has always made games that felt different, and always gave me a lot of good memories. Some of them are even my fav games of all time. I am worried that sony is going to pick up Arkane and turn them console exclusive bc in opposite to Microsoft they are willing to offer exclusives to their customers. What do you guys think? Curious to hear your thoughts.

Sony buying the studio would be a good thing because they would get to live to see another day. MS made it clear they intend to shut down the studio which is just a giant shame, really.
In reality, Sony isn't going to buy them because hardly anyone is buying studios right now. I just hope Arkane (and blade) find a way to get out of this relatively unscathed.
Blade can't catch a break. This game is their only lifeline right now, and it better be good enough to sell. Otherwise, the studio will be dead and gone.

I recently bought an Xbox 360. First, I realized I have a lot of games on my account from back when Xbox Live Gold was good. They gave you the games to own, not just use if you paid for gold. Second, I have been buying some since they can be found for around 3-5 bucks a piece. I forgot just how many amazing games were on the 360. The library is huge for that system. I have some of these games on my PC, but I was thinking of playing through them on the 360 if I get a chance.

Ah the Xbox 360... sad mine died in 2010 but in that same year, I got a PS3, was about to have the best of both worlds but sadly RRoD came at a bad time. I originally wanted the PS3 but since it was so expensive, got the X360, no regrets. Sucks my modem back then only had 1 ethernet port and I was so tech illiterate that I was afraid of disconnecting the cable and connect it to the X360, thinking I'll lose internet in general. What a dumb kid I was 😅
Maybe I'll buy a Slim or even a Series S especially that beautiful transparent green, for backwards compatibility and emulation. But eh idk. I feel good with my PC rig and PC handheld. Just waiting for a compatible jailbreak for my PS5 (To install Linux, turn it into a Steam machine and move that to the living room) since there's still no interesting exclusive games that pique my interest.
Same! Just pulled mine out after 10 years. Last time I played it I was a a senior in high school and always played C.O.D. on live with my nephew. when I finally went through all my games I have collected over the years and realized I have over 50 plus games for it and might just set up my projector like I had it when I was younger now that i'm about to get an amputation done and will have a lot of down time.

Sadly, there not a really good fix for this...I mean if you are savvy enough, you can open it up, reapply the thermal glue to the heatsink, probably even upgrade it. But generally its shot...there are many success stories on YT, give it a try, GOOD LUCK!
I experienced the red ring of death on the original Xbox 360 many years ago. I just sent it in to Microsoft and they sent me back a remanufactured 360.
Issues Paying DVD and Bluray Movies

I have an Xbox One that mainly gets used to play dvs for the kiddo. We have been having weird issues accessing the board. Some of the DVS will not load at all, and I have to use another device. We had some Blu-rays work, then the signal dropped and the image disappeared. Sometimes it will reappear and work, other times it just won't. Anyone else seeing issues on this? It's weird because it's not just a few like regular DVD's ther were quite a few where it couldn't detect the disk.

I have found that you have to be connected to the internet for the DVD and Bluray app to work on the console. I am sure that may be the problem?
That sounds like it could be a failing disc drive. If it’s happening across multiple discs (DVD and Blu-ray), it’s probably not the discs themselves. You could try cleaning the drive or checking for system updates, but it might be hardware wear.
Xbox Game Pass feels almost too good… am I the only one thinking this?

I’ve been using Game Pass for a while and honestly it feels like a really good deal compared to buying games individually.
Sometimes I wonder how sustainable it is, but as a user it’s hard to complain.

Too expensive right now. It doesn't offer the games I would want, and I don't have the time to play a lot of games I haven't wishlist. I'm looking at $276 for the full year on Ultimate, which is for sure not cheap.
It's probably like all subscription services. They lose some money on people who use it a lot, but they make a lot of money on people who rarely use it.
Xbox is in a weird but interesting phase right now.

🎯 Bringing more games to more platforms
At the same time, they’re reportedly scaling BACK some AI features like Copilot for Gaming after fan backlash, while restructuring leadership to focus more on the core gaming experience.
Feels like Xbox is trying to rebuild its identity:
Less “future tech demos,” more “give players great games everywhere.”
And honestly? 2026 might decide whether Xbox becomes:
a traditional console brand again
ORa full gaming ecosystem that lives across console, PC, handheld, and cloud.

Now that Xbox games can be played via a computer, with Xbox game pass, so you think that it would be fair to just allow Xbox games you own digitally to be played on your computer without an Xbox game pass subscription?
They should at least have a digital ownership pass where I can play Xbox games I own on my computer without the full subscription

They have this already. It's called Xbox Play Anywhere. Sure, not every game is available with this program, but they have apparently 1000+ games in it. And they are routinely expanding this program and they even add new titles to it like The Outer Worlds 2.

It’s been a long wait, but Bethesda focused on Starfield first, so it makes sense. ES6 is probably still a few years away—maybe closer to the end of this generation.

What is a console... Read between the lines... our understanding of what they consider to be a console is what's really in question. Small Form Factor PC is what I think the next 'console' will be
I wouldn’t worry too much about that. There’s been a lot of talk about cloud gaming, but consoles are still a huge part of the market. It’s more likely they’ll coexist rather than replace each other anytime soon.

Forza Horizon 6 to appear at Xbox's January Developer direct? How about a release date?

Playground games (the developer behind Forza Horizon) is set to appear at the January developer direct on the 26th. They'll probably show off gameplay properly this time around. But what do you think? What are your expectations? You think the game is truly going to release in the first half of 2026 as the rumors suggest?
The whole announcement in June at the xbox showcase event then followed by this barebones teaser which released at the Tokyo Games Show in late September. It never made sense to me why they'd make the announcement so early if they truly weren't aiming to release this game in the first half of 2026.
Well I can only hope it does come out early, because I want to finally actually get into Horizon. I had bought 5 during the time it still had a major bug which caused textures to become like a glitchy rainbow that got worse until it crashed. I refunded it at that time for that reason, and haven’t gotten back into it especially with the announcement for 6 which, despite 5 being really beautiful, 6 should fix the biggest issue I had with Horizon 5 which was that the map was just bland, lots of the same colors and barren landscape. I’m hoping for this one to be really beautiful, well optimized like 5, and varied.

Army of Two. It's a 3rd person co-op shooter with the unique "aggro" mechanic. Basically enemies will focus fire more the one player that is shooting or doing the most damage, this kinda gives the other player stealth and better flanking opportunities.

My stepson just got the newest iteration of Xbox out there. My first exposure to one and the costs associated with it. Goodness the controllers are expensive and some games are $60-70! We've been coaxing my stepson to get a job soon or start thinking about it, I think the costs of it and the Gamepass finally has him considering it more now. lol

Does anyone else's Xbox console delete game clips OFF THE INTERNAL STORAGE after they expire on the Xbox Network?

I have a Xbox Series X and whenever game clips expire on the Xbox Network, my clips automatically delete/permanently disappear from my console's locally saved clips. Screenshots are unaffected by this issue, they continue to be present on my local storage after expiring from the network (as the clips should've as well). I don't think this is how the expiration system is supposed to work. Has anyone else encountered this issue with their Xbox console?

So recently, I got back into some of my older systems. I had an Xbox that had been sitting around for a while. I ended up replacing the clock capacitor, which was in great shape,"no leaking", for a v4 model. I also ended up swapping the hard drive out. I attempted an SSD, but it would not boot in the right order, so I ended up using an old spinning disc I had. I have been enjoying this old system again and it's one of the systems where I kept a lot of the original games I had. Typically I had to trade them in to afford new games as a kid. I was looking at some hard mods and wondered if anyone else has done this. I was curious about some specifically that add HDMI. What are your thoughts on the most useful mods for the OG Xbox?

Fable could be cool, especially if they keep the co op from the later games. Me and my girl played these on the 360 and had a good laugh.
Horizon 6 would also be awesome, seems they borked Motorsport 8 so at least having a fun racer would be nice.
I'm interested to see what they do with Fable. The original was the first game I played on Xbox.

It's crazy that they are gutting studios that have generated billions of dollars. The excuse that they are removing unnecessary management sounds like complete BS when you cut half a team or close an entire studio. My guess is that they just want to focus on short term profits through gamepass.
Hopefully Microsoft will bounce back, and hopefully the people that are being laid off will bounce back too.
