If You Like Vampire Survivor Then You'll Like Soulstone Survivor

Soulstone Survivor is an action roguelike that is the latest addition to the survivor genre. In this game, you play as a Void Hunter entering different realms to conquer Lords of the Void and their endless minions. Hunters can use their rewards from the void to craft weapons, unlock characters, upgrade skill trees, and equip new runes.

I know that recently there have been numerous games that have come out in the Vampire Survivor-like genre, but Soulstone Survivor has been my favorite so far. Each character in the game has a unique pool of skills that genuinely makes them feel different from one another. There are currently 14 playable characters with 7 more planned to be added before the official release. Visually this is the best-looking game from this genre offering a more three-dimensional environment versus the typical two-dimensional. This game also has better controls. I prefer these dynamic controls which improve accuracy by including a mouse compared to other titles which only used WASD. The grind for this game is also in a comfortable spot where it's not to easy or taxing to complete. Within 30 hours I had unlocked everything available so far and I didn't feel forced to play a certain way throughout my entire playtime.

This game is in early access, so there are some clear issues related to content. Right now the game has only 20 of its intended 105 weapons in-game currently making the blacksmith and resource feature almost meaningless. There are also some issues with performance that come from particle effects. Attacks with a large AOE  and/or attacks with multiple projectiles can be upgraded to the point that they take up the entire map dropping fps and blocking all visuals. There are only 5 maps currently. Although they visually look impressive they lack any depth to set themselves apart. There is no difference currently that can differentiate the maps besides resource nodes that cannot be used currently. The biggest flaw of this game would have to be the price point. It is being sold for $9.99 which is significantly more expensive than any other game in this genre. I for one think this game is worth the asking price, but I know that many gamers have found issues with this price point.

If you are not sure if the game is gonna be worth playing then I suggest trying the prologue. It is basically a demo or a content-cut F2P version.
