Good Afternoon,
I hope everyone’s festive period has gone well.
Early stages in design at the moment but I’m just trying to gauge how much interest there would be for 3rd party customisation for the Legion Go.
I started the idea to customise my own Go but thought others might benefit, I currently have early mockups for 2280 NVME built into a custom back plate as they are cheaper and go up in higher storage capacity and easier to source.
Custom cooling back plate this would be based on if the internal PSU could handle an extra fan integrated in line with the other fan.
Potentially could even go as far as a custom heatsink but lots of parameters would be needed from Lenovo which would be hard to gain but not impossible. Essentially printing a new rear plate to accommodate a dual heat sink and fan set up such as rog ally. This is once again reliant on the PSU being cable of powering two fans through the three pin interface and current airflow figures etc.
Battery expansion back plate would require some input with a trusted third party battery provider and potentially access to the PSU onboard software to calibrate increased capacity to system.
All the mock up drawings I have so far do not impede on usability, still comfortable to hold no ingress to joysticks or where your hands naturally sit big or small.
I have a printing company in mind that would do the liquid moulding a specific material lightweight and designed to aid with cooling and a design engineer who is willing to do the CAD designs I just do not want to invest heavily if only one or two hard core gamers will be interested.
So what is everyone’s thoughts?
Thanks for taking the time to read
Dan.
