Time to get your inner cowboy on - with friends!
Love the thought of hopping into the Wild West with friends, but not interested in the gargantuan single-player experience offered by Red Dead Redemption 2? Not to worry, Rockstar has heard your pleas loud and clear. Red Dead Online, the online-only counterpart of the title, can now be purchased for $5 as a standalone title, meaning you and friends can lasso, hog-tie, and quick-draw at your leisure together.
It’s no surprise Rockstar has opted to release Red Dead Online as its own thing; GTAV’s online portion is one of their most successful endeavors to date, and remains one of the top played games around, years after launch. Not enjoying quite the same level of love and success, Red Dead Online as a standalone experience, is sure to draw more players.
Along with the standalone announcement, players hopping in will find the new Bounty Hunters expansion, which will see a range of fugitives to handle, updates to the bounty hunter role, and a slew of new weapons and items to go with it.
Legendary bounties and a 100-rank Outlaw pass are also now in the game. Red Dead Online’s map is something to behold, with stunning vistas and environments to explore (when you’re not rampaging your way through human habitats, of course), so for anyone wondering if they should give it a go – I’d say go for it, especially at that attractively low price.
