Live long and prosper, Legion Gamers!

Today is the 8th of September, which means that Star Trek Day is here!

That's right, on September 8th, 1966, the first Star Trek episode in the known universe, the pilot episode of Star Trek: The Original Series called "The Man Trap", deputed on television. And the rest is history. Since then, Gene Roddenberry invited audiences of the world to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no one has gone before!

Star Trek has a lot going for it. Not only did it show unusual races and plants, but it imagined a world that championed diversity, inclusion, and acceptance. Not surprisingly then, that over time it got many more series, animated adaptations and even video games. And this is the day to celebrate it all!

Personally, I just finished watching the second season of Strange New Worlds. I did not really like Discovery, but this series, while not without its flaws, I like better:

And if you'd rather play rather than watch, earlier this year, Star Trek: Resurgence came out. We have not had a good space opera since Mass Effect, and now after a few patches, it is very enjoyable and an extra treat for the fans:

But really, there is no wrong way to celebrate this day, from writing a poem in Klingon to cooking a traditional Vulcan tevmel:

Or you can celebrate this day by naming your favourite Star Trek series or captain. Which side are you on, Kirk or Picard?

and that's another one of the most famous tv series I couldn't watch till now, so I can't choose a side, despite the fact that I love science fiction😓😓
I suppose in the end, the whole of life becomes an act of letting go, but what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye.

@Marwaesam Strictly speaking, though, Star Trek is not science fiction, it is space opera. They follow different rules: science fiction relies on known scientific principles, but Star Trek has no such restrictions, and most of the science used in the show is not scientifically explained or solid.

Which does not make it bad in any way, of course. Just be careful that if it is science fiction you're after, then Star Trek is not really it. You may have better luck with the recent Expanse by Telltales, that series is closer to sci-fi:

@Alexia4bit It's huge now, but not all of it is equally good, so no need to watch all of it. But there are series that made it into the phenomenon that it is now, the classic Star Trek: The Original Series and later Star Trek: The Next Generation. The latter one is probably the best to start with.

@Alexia4bit It will need a lot of space, and if you end up liking it, even more so. Good luck!

Here's a tough question for us all: Star Wars or Star Trek - and why?

@Liue That's a tough one, though maybe not exactly accurate, after all, those are 2 very different universes, united maybe only by the fact that space is involved in both. Other than that the premise and vibe are very different. I would not say I prefer one over the other, but if I had to pick one under gunpoint, I'd pick Star Trek. Because of the Star Wars New Trilogy. That was painful to watch.
