I feel like every year there are a few hidden gems that slip under the radar because everyone’s focused on AAA releases.
Have you played any lesser-known or underrated PC games recently that you’d recommend in 2025?
I just finished playing ‘Dark and Darker’ and was surprised how fun and intense it was. Also enjoyed ‘Enshrouded’ which felt like a great mix of Valheim and survival RPGs.
Would love to hear your picks – indie, AA, anything that deserves more attention!

@dela2509991 I want to say there are plenty of indie games, though some are more popular than others, rivalling AAA projects in popularity.

For example, two months ago (on the 7th of April), the Primitive Pixels Games indie studio put their debut project, a game called Seed of Nostalgia (in Classic Pixel JRPG genre) on Kickstarter to try and get 20K funding to make it. And it immediately became so popular that it took them only 4 hours to get that sum, and by the end of the 1-month campaign, they had 300K more than they asked. The game is not even out yet, and yet it is already that popular:

And it is one of many. If you want a deeper look into upcoming 2025 indie games to know what to expect, then here is an overview:

But those are the upcoming ones just for perusing. When it comes to more personal recommendations, I want to ask first what genre you're after. Both Dark and Darker and Enshrouded are multiplayer and in early access with dungeons and fights. Are you looking for something similar, or will any indie game that we like do, like Blue Prince or Knights in Tight Spaces?

@dela2509991 I read today that Dark and Darker will be inaccessible on the EGS come November. It is already delisted there, and they seem to plan to remove it from the libraries, too.
