    Hello Legion Gamers!

It's that time of the year again: Steam Summer Sale is here!

Not on board with the rap attempt, to be honest 😅

In truth, I have not looked that much into it yet, but this one is longer than fests, so no major trouble in that. I read that some games are 95% on sale, but a quick glance did not reveal anything noteworthy. One thing I did notice is that some newer games got little discounts, too, like Drop Duchy or the acclaimed Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but their discounts are for but a fraction of the cost (15% and 10%) and nothing to write home about. Still, discounts so soon after release are nice.

Either way, I compiled a small list of famous titles that got some decent (I mean over 50%) discounts, in case anyone has not played any of these big games but wants them in their library.
You can take a look at it by clicking on this text
    • Battlefield 1 (-95%)
    • Battlefield 2042 (-95%)
    • Middle-earth: Shadow of War (-90%)
    • DOOM (-80%)
    • Cyberpunk 2077 (-65%)
    • Death Stranding Directorʼs Cut (-60%)
    • Marvelʼs Spider-Man Remastered (-50%)
    • Resident Evil 4 (-50%)
    • Forza Horizon 5 (-50%)
    • Days Gone (-50%)

Other than that, there are some smaller discounts, and I hope you do find something you want for cheap. And if not, there is always a winter sale ahead 😉

Honestly, Steam sales are always a great time to grab games I’ve had in mind. Although sometimes it feels like the biggest discounts are only for really old titles, you can still find some gems. I’ll check out that list to see if there’s anything that catches my eye.

    Thanks for the heads-up @DoctorEldritch !

@Inyeon You're welcome! And you're right, actually, to me, the Summer Sale was always for something that I wanted to get for a while but never got to just yet. Summer is an interesting time: most of the big releases happen later in Autumn, so there are not that many new games to be excited about.

And even some of the older ones may not have big enough discounts, for example, I am after Rise of the Ronin, but that only has a 20% discount, come on...

Still, there are some finds there, too. Persona 3 Reloaded has a 55% discount, that's something, and I have not played part 3 yet, either. Speaking of, for you and @ZaidH and @AmrAli1, maybe the SEGA section of Summer Sale would be of interest, their discount offers are not bad. Metaphor: ReFantazio is at 40%, which is still before 50%, but not 20% like Ronin. I am thinking of grabbing that, just need to read on whether they plan any DLCs in the future or not, if they do, I'd rather wait till then. Maybe you'll see something you like in those franchises there too 😊

@ZaidH How is that restraint working out for you so far? 😉

I mean, 60% is decent, but maybe the Winter sale will bring it down more?

@DoctorEldritch I'm happy to report that I've had the willpower to hold myself back so far 😆 Honestly, I probably would’ve bought it if it weren’t for the summer here. It's BRUTAL, like 50°C brutal. As silly as it may sound, I usually avoid playing resource-heavy games on PC during this time 😅 I do have a laptop stand that really helps it breathe, but my god, it still gets hot sometimes, even with the AC doing its best.

@ZaidH Goon on you and your resolve of spirit. As for the weather, I didn't think it was silly, I mean, with 50°C devices can overheat more easily, or so I thought. Even if it is not really the case (please anyone correct me if I am wrong about this), 50°C is not really a comfortable temperature to do anything except for swimming, or maybe testing new ice-cream flavours. Sounds brutal!

I have a stand as well. although it's main function is to position my laptop screen on the level of my eyes when I sit at my table, it has that little fan in the base as well, and I turn it on when it's to hot outside, or when I am playing a demanding game and my laptop starts to make noise mimicing a rising plane.

Or making eggs directly on the car’s bonnet 😂 Yes, people have actually tried it, and it worked lols. But yeah, even though the ambient indoor temperature is much lower, it's still easier for electronics to heat up. Even my laptop’s idle temps have gone from 35°C to 40°C. The only saving grace is that there's barely any humidity, so the weather doesn't feel as hot as it should.

    😂😂😂
Now you’ve got me wanting a setup like yours, but I’m worried about the fan part. Even though I keep the house clean, I still worry the fan might push dust or other unwanted particles into the laptop's intake vents. Do you disassemble and clean your laptop regularly?

People have tried many things in this heat 😉

Lack of humidity is nice. When it is humid, it is quite unbearable, but "dry heat" is more manageable. Probably for laptops, too: lack of humidity may make fans more efficient, at least, I would think so.

That picture is more of a meme, what I am actually using is a Lavolta stand like this one:

The fans in these operate in reverse, they such the air from under the laptop instead of blowing air onto it, as it were. So they are more of an extension of laptops' existing bottom fans and help them blow air in the same direction. In this setup, I think there is little danger of blowing dust or other unwanted particles into the laptop's intake vents. I mean, if there was, it'd be a serious design flaw for a product like this.

As for cleaning up my laptop, no, I only do it when the fan starts making a sound, and I never do it myself; I always bring it to a specialist. I do not trust myself with delicate work like that.
