    Hello Legion Gamers!

The first test of the year is here (probably?)! This time, there is a chance to try alpha testing Sea of Remnants:

The main character embarks on a sea adventure to regain his memory. I know, amnesia is one of the clicheiest cliches out there, but then again, the pirate genre as a whole is a giant bundle of cliches, when you think about it. The key is to use them well in a gameplay.

And there seems to be a lot of gameplay here: assembling a crew, upgrading a ship, and sailing an open world full of battles, crafting, puzzles, and more peaceful activites like fishing, cooking or base building. That's a lot to choose from, nt to mention more thematic mini-games in the spirit of pirates, like deadly roulette, drinking parties, or mahjong. This last one could be a nod towards Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. @ZaidH do you play majong in Yakuza games? Personally I could never make heads or tails of it, so when I needed to win it for some story, I used a cheat item 😅

All that is wrapped up in a rather unusual colorful graphic, too. It's been some time since we had a good pirate game, could this be it?

If this looks like something you'd want to test, then you can fill the survey to join on Steam. You can do so until the 22nd of January, and the testing itself will take place in February. @Telomina, @Saka and @GoLLuM13 I'll tag you in case you want to give it a try 😊

Thank you for the tag. Looking at the image it doesn't really feel for me. I will keep my hopes up for a remake of a pirate game I like instead.

@Telomina The only remake I know of that's in the buzz is that of Assassin's Creed Black Flag. Is that the one you mean?

On an unrelated note, Cozy Caravan just came out last week. I remember you liked it in the Wholesome games presentation in your video. Did you get a chance to try it out yet?

I cannot comment on that since I am a Ubisoft Partner and there hasn't been any official confirmations about a remaster.

I am sad to say I have not been given a review copy. I couldn't find anywhere to apply for one even. :/

@Telomina Ah, I see. I remember you mentioned you are one, but I did not realise it came with NDAs like that.

Oh, that's too bad. I was thinking about getting it and was hoping to as your opinion if you tried it. Do you think you would give it a go as a rgular game, not as a review game, at some point, or if it is not a review, then you'd skip it?

@DoctorEldritch of course any earlier given information if there was any would not be allowed to be shared. I am a playtester as well and those have really strict NDAs and Ubisoft as well as EA have always been my top two favorite publishers and developers that I'd rather lose a toe than lose them 🤣

I do have a no buying games rule, again "only the biggest games I wouldn't ever have a chance at getting sponsored" (like Pokemon pokopia) am I allowed to buy. I would definitely play this one if my library got it, if it was added to Xbox gamepass or free with epic games for example, it looks so adorable!

@Telomina That's understandable, I meant it more in a way that, with NDAs, I am never quite sure what it is that you can say about it. They can differ quite a bit: in some cases, you can't say the name of the game, inothers, you can say it, but can't say anything else. In other cases, you are allowed to say your impression of the game (I like it or don't like it) of how it looks (graphic is good), but say nothing about gameplay or plot. Endless nuances. Some of NDAs I have are for life, even...

That's fair. I have no such rule, but I have another one: no buying games at full price, only at 60% or more discount. Which suits me just fine, I usually need to waith quite a bit before I can play games, anyway. That's for big games. But I make exceptions for indie games: I gather, they need support, and indie games are usually more affordable, too.

@DoctorEldritch oh the 60% or more is a pretty brutal wait! There are some games I definitely bought day 1, very few, but still.
