Amateurs VS Experts When Making Games

Discussion

Just learned about the shut down of Highguard today, which is developed by the Wildlight Entertainment. Wildlight consists of tons of experts who have worked for years in the game industry. According to their website, their team members have some sort of involved in the development of many popular games: Apex, Call of Duty, Overwatch, Helldivers, Valorant, Warframe et cetera.

BUT, Hightguard turned out to be a total failure. As a free-to-play raid shooter game, it only lasted for less than 2 months. It remains me of the infamous Concord. Both are bad games developed by a group of professionals who used to make good games.

We, ordinary players, are capable to tell if a game is good or not and those experts can't? On the other hand, Expedition 33 was made by mostly "amateurs", 80% of all the members in the Sandfall Interactive have never worked in this industry: guitar teacher, financial practitioner, circus organizer and so on.

Imagine, your friend, coworker or any stranger on the street can perform a better surgery than your doctor. How absurd!!! However, with billions of dollars and years of expertise, our game developers are degenerating into incompetent losers who are ruining this industry.

WHY???
