Recently I have found I didn't really want to chase any newer games, nothing really pulled me. Though a little while ago I purchased Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen which I haven't played since early PS4 days and Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin, which again was an early PS4 title when I played it.
I have a lot of love for both of these games, despite most people hating on DS2, I find it really charming. There was a massive overhaul on mods for this game particularly with a lighting engine and a lot of 4k texture mods too. Which I applied to my Steam files and HOLY. COW. It looks better than Elden Ring. Though it does now hammer the CPU and GPU. It was never a great port and it has some odd behaviors, Still it tickled the GPU and CPU. Now? it hammers the 4070 in my A17 and can decided to roast the 7940HS at times too. THE VISUALS THOUGH!
Night and day difference, actual grass... better trees... SHADOWS!?! and walls that don't look flat. There's still general lumpiness of the original game, but it looks amazing. I did hear there is meant to be a mod that can change combat to more DS3 style, but heck, I think just upgrading the pretty on this is more than enough.

Dogma... is another story, this game is notorious hard to mod due to the file types, but there are still several out there that are pretty amazing in all honesty. Again I did a few prettying mods and a few balancing the eco system mods. It looks much better and plays a little smoother. I did try the "World difficulty" mod, but I'm not a fan. DDDA can seemingly get pretty easy as you progress and this mod pretty much overhauls the world, from enemy AI, defence and attack to adding in new mobs and world encounters. My problem personally with this mod is it feels like it goes a little too far with it. When it takes 10mins to kill a starter goblin... it feels out of touch. Kind of like games like Tales of Arise, the difficulty spike seems pointless, you get little more from it but every encounter feels like a slog. So I went back to the generic update kinda mod.
So good people of the forum, have you revisited any of your older games and tarted them up a bit for a shiny new playthrough?
