Crysis 4 is currently no longer in development

Discussion

Crytek has "paused" development on Crysis 4 for some time now. In addition, part of the company is being laid off.

The developer announced this via a message on social media. Approximately fifteen percent - around sixty employees - are losing their jobs in an attempt to keep the company financially stable.

According to them its due to the complex, adverse market dynamics that have plagued the industry in recent years.

Crysis 4 was announced in early 2022. Development had just started at that time, but apparently development was paused sometime during the third quarter of last year. Hitman 3 director Mattias Engström, who was appointed to lead the project, has returned to IO Interactive. Crytek is now primarily focused on supporting the 2018 game Hunt: Showdown 1896.
