The Witcher 3 may get a third expansion

Discussion

Ten years after its original release, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt may be getting a new expansion. According to Polish podcast duo Rock and Boris, studio Fool’s Theory is working on a brand new DLC scheduled for 2026. They also have previously been involved in other CD Projekt RED projects.

Although this is not official, multiple sources have reportedly confirmed the existence of the project.

Even after a decade, The Witcher 3 remains a milestone in the RPG genre. The previous expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine were praised for their quality, particularly because of the strong stories, memorable characters and an expansion of the game world that almost felt like a new game. A possible third DLC therefore has big shoes to fill.

It is noteworthy that this expansion is rumored to be released before both The Witcher 4 and the remake of the original The Witcher. Fans who thought Geralt was retired for good may still be presented with one last adventure.

But is there a need for a third expansion? The ending of The Witcher Trilogy was good enough and felt like a complete whole to many.
