ADT-UT3G + Radeon 7900 GRE

Hello Legion Go Community!

I've recently gone out of my mind, and decided to shell out serious cash on an eGPU setup for my Legion Go.

Went with the ADT-Link UT3G eGPU USB4 dock, along with a Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 GRE and a Corsair 650W Gold Plus PSU.

I followed Nelly's guide on YouTube:

, I know, she uses the ONEXGPU but it's almost the exact process ... along with ADT-Link's tutorial here: https://www.adt.link/product/UT3G.html#:~:text=ADT%2DUT3G%20installation%20instructions&text=When%20installing%20an%20external%20graphics,according%20to%20the%20driver's%20prompts.

Initially, I enabled Hyper RX profile on Adrenaline, but didn't like the experience (though, truth be told, I had accidentally set the Legion Go profile to power saving!!). Once I disabled Hyper RX & focused on the 7900 GRE's raw output & switched to 35W TDP, I was very impressed.

Tested Resident Evil 4, Horizon Zero Dawn ... all High / 1440p (and even dabbled with 4K) with great results while connected to an external 4K monitor. Not sure why people discredit eGPU solutions & recommend against them.

I was monitoring fps / temps with MSI Afterburner since Legion Space wouldn't work with the eGPU.

I mean, yes, the overall cost of the setup I now have is astronomical, but it offers flexibility unattainable with Laptops / Desktops.

One disadvantage I came across was that the ADT UT3G eGPU doesn't provide power delivery, which means I have to use the second USB4 port on the Legion Go for power, with no option to add external SSDs or other devices (for productivity work - Photoshop / Premiere / etc). Yes, I can use a USB-C hub similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09CTHJ8T3/?coliid=I2KA4ZQA6L4Y5X&colid=385NNIL0PU4NG&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1 , but that adds another 150$ to the already high cost.
