Buying Legion Go Controllers Separately for PC

Discussion

I do not own a Legion Go, but I want to buy and use the Legion Go controllers on my PC in lieu of an Xbox controller. I have considered getting the whole console, but I already have a Steam Deck, so it's hard to justify the upgrade. I really want the larger, higher resolution screen of these more premium handhelds, as I mostly stream games via WiFi from my computer for better performance (the price is reasonable, to be clear).

Anyway, this is about the controllers.

Controllers are important to me, I use a Razer Tartarus v2 alongside my mouse whenever I'm not using a controller for games. Growing up with the Wii, I always loved that the Remote + Nunchuk did not require me to keep my hands together holding a controller. I could just sit on the couch with my hands at my sides, not being restricted to a single position, like I was watching TV or a movie. It's more comfortable and significantly immersive.

I have scoured the internet for split controllers to use together (not give half of one to a buddy as Nintendo markets), and the only other thing available is Joycons, but they always have a Nintendo button layout and the overall quality is often lacking. Their wireless range is too short from console to couch too.

I'm also very intrigued about the FPS mode for my own productivity purposes. As a game guide writer, being able to use the right controller as a mouse seems like a nifty improvement that would allow me to not have to set the controller down as much while writing, especially if I could bind some of the extra buttons to keyboard functions for ShareX screenshots and Discord push-to-talk.

From what I have gathered, it seems that I could theoretically order each controller as a part, but it requires some software shenanigans to work on PC, and I haven't even seen conclusive evidence that it works reliably. I have not researched whether I could recharge them independently from the console either.

Is there a timeline for if/when the Legion Go controllers will be available for purchase separately from the main console?
