I think they should go with a version of the go 2 that has attached controllers (that are fixed) and go with front facing speakers and matched back buttons. The original idea of the go with detachable controllers was to use it as a tablet or set it down on the go and detach the controllers and play. But everywhere you take the go, I find myself taking other accessories like usb cable, charger, slim dock, and 3rd party controller anyway. And the go 1 is kinda big to use as a tablet. The front facing speakers and potentially lighter weight would be better than the detachable controllers.
