Legion Go OEM software/driver problems October 2024

Discussion

With pending announcement for potentially 2 new Legion Go successors/handhelds I want to ensure Legion community reps receive this feedback:

1) Lenovo really need to improve the quality and quantity of updates for Legion handhelds that use APUs. Legion Space don’t work properly with everything updated since earlier September. Example is legion space constantly freezes/un-responsive when logging into windows from powered off. This could be issue with legion space defaulting to the store page with api issues or problems with legion space itself

2) AMD GPU driver update is too few and far in between and I’m tracking just one major GPU update 2024… You can’t release ‘great’ products that has inferior software sustainment in service.

3) Lenovo seems to be a more serious product development OEM focusing on physical product verification/validation. This shows in that my Legion Go is significantly superior in hardware QA & has objectively less faults than Asus Rog Ally. This I think carries into software security as Ben previously hinted at legion go software development has to flow into wider Lenovo software V&V processes that likely includes stringent requirements. This is great in an enterprise environment and I think other OEMs like Asus can’t compare. That said; I hope legion go team is able to find a more agile development framework that can for example identify and speed up updates like whitelisting AMD driver updates etc.
