@DracoTarot Oh, it is not as grim as all that. No curfews yet 😅

Well, I guess there is merit to that from the angle of the victim having a chance, but still, it does not sit well. He planned everything so meticulously, all the step-by-step scenario with a journal and the whole wooden model. For someone who plans with such detail to make such a mistake is a bit...out of character.

For me, therein can lie a trap, I sometimes get so fixated on some details that it disrupts a bigger picture for me.

To be fair, Hugh is also rather playful in his performance here, but in a creepy way. But I still think Clooney would work if he played something akin to his older character from The American, with a dark twist.

As for Willem Dafoe, possibly. I recently saw him in Beetlejuice 2 and Nosferatu and in both, he had lighter roles, I am sure he would be good but not sure in what form exactly, he is..how to put this...not as physically menacing as Hugh or George. As in, Hught could overpower the girls in melee, possibly, but Willem, I am not sure. One of the qualities needed here is that impression "you can't subdue me" that the antagonist needs to have, I think.

@DoctorEldritch Maby not as yet but it could happen.

I guess it comes down to the fact that no one is perfect or has it all including masterful and intelligent villains.

There's nothing wrong with overanalyzing things and looking beyond certain details. It's a good trade and can help in many circumstances to avoid disappointment before following through with an idea or event.

Maybe I'm too critical towards Clooney but the last movies he starred in didn't impress me much and his acting wasn't up to scratch. It feels like he is more of a comical character these days rather than a serious one.

The reason I mentioned Willem Dafoe is because of his unsettling nature in American Psycho. His appearance overall also appeals to me for such a role. He can use expressions very well to create a certain mood.

Well, it's just me and I could be wrong. Your opinion of the movie is better than mine in any case. 😂

    Who am I to argue.

When someone uses that phrase, I always remember the ending of Some Like It Hot 😂

To be fair, it's been a while since I last saw Clooney. So you might be right. Then again, Hugh is not overly serious either, particularly as far as his villains are concerned, they always have that degree of whimsy that in Heretic was taken to a "disturbing" level. I think rather than a usual genre trope, it could be a charisma thing.

I did not mean that Willem Dafoe would not be good for the role, it's just that the plot will need to account for his stature. Like if the whole thing took place in a reprogrammed smart home or something like that. As for American Psycho, in that film, they used a technique where he filmed three takes of most scenes with Christian Bale's character, a take where he was convinced he was guilty, a take where he was convinced he was not, and a take where he was undecided. And then the actual movie consists of a mix of all three takes, so the audience can never quite get what he is thinking. I guess something similar could be done if he did something like Heretic, though how exactly is a question.

I would not say my opinion is better, films are subjective in the first place. Most viewpoints are valid.

@GoLLuM13, @miskkie, @DracoTarot, @ZaidH and @ChristianRasmussen They shared another insight about the game today, saying that NPC-wise it seems to be something close to Fallout 2 or Arcanum: you can kill many important NPCs, though it is a bit unclear if you could kill all of them. In Fallout New Vegas I remember you could technically walk into Caesar's camp and kill him first thing after starting the game. Or, well, try to, at least: to actually survive that encounter you'd need a high level. But the option is there.

Dawnwalker seems to aim for something similar. Which is good gameplay-wise, I think. I just hope this mechanic fits the overall gameplay. Back in the day, another vampire-themed game, Vampyr, had a mechanic centred around killing important NPCs, but it was not designed all that well...

@DracoTarot, @GoLLuM13, @miskkie, @ChristianRasmussen and @ZaidH there's been another development about this game recently: they shared another gameplay trailer. Rather long one, too:

Sadly, no release date yet, though shaping to be sometime in 2026, unless there are delays (GTA 6, looking at you).

Human by day and Vampire by night, interesting.

@ChristianRasmussen I am a bit looking forward to comparing it to Bloodlines 2 (after they get those 2 DLCs they have planned). They both have a vampire theme, but are so different in setting, design and approach. Bloodlines 2 is already only Mixed on Steam, so Dawnwalker has all the chances to come on top.

Awesomes!! Those pesky release dates are so annoying especially when you're itching to try out the game. Oh well, hopefully it's worth the wait. 😄

@DracoTarot It has a nice pedigree, made by people who worked on Witcher 3. Should be good. I wonder if they have any DLCs planned, though.
