@DracoTarot while I was on vacation, I thought about the Hatching movie you mentioned and you needing more series to watch (how do you find the Expanse, by the way?), and I thought of 2 more series you could look into, that are more like Hatching.

The first one is Terror. It is a 2 season anthology, the first one is based on a book which, itself, is based on a real mystery of two ships trapped in the ice (it really did happen). The second one is based on a different book and has a different story, I liked the first season better:

The second one is The Haunting of Hill House. It is more typical and about a creepy house with paranormal stuff and family involved with it. The interesting thing about it is that it shows 2 timelines simultaneously, when most of the family are still the kids and live in the house, and later when they are all grown up and how it affected them. It says it is a horror, but it is really more of a thriller, I do not like horrors, but I enjoyed that one:

It also has a second season also based on a different book and being a different story, called The Haunting of Bly Manor, but I have not seen that yet, so can't tell you if it's better or not.

If you have not tried these yet and are still looking for something new, maybe they will fit you, I hope.

@DoctorEldritch nice to hear from you again and I hope you've enjoyed your vacation to the fullest. :)

To be honest I haven't even started with The Expanse. We once again are struggling with loadshedding in South Africa. This is when we will be without electricity for numerous hours per day. This is going on for the past three weeks now and doesn't come to an end. Working on a cellphone doesn't make it any easier especially if I have to type a thousand words per customer request when doing my online work. It's physically draining!!

Currently, our area will be without power for 8 hours leaving me with no time to fulfil my duties with work and other things. Watching movies and series went right out the door.

Both The Terror and The Haunting of Hill House look great and they are on my bucket list. Thank you for the recommendations. :)

@DracoTarot This is unfortunate to hear, I've just seen the thread started on the subject. Hang in there! I can imagine how inconvenient it is to use a smartphone for that volume of typing. More so because I am very bad with touchscreens myself, I even ordered a new physical keyboard phone and I've been waiting for over 6 months for it to arrive from China now, due to all sorts of delays.

But, as always, at times like this, I remind myself of a Solomon ring story, and it does make me feel a bit better. Hopefully, it will be better soon.

@DoctorEldritch yea all I can do is to keep on hoping for better days. China is currently in lockdown again and there's a huge holdup with deliveries. I'm also waiting for a few things from Shenzen. Won another vape device and other goodies. Been waiting 5 weeks now and the parcel is still stuck at the supplier.

UPS even asked me if they need to refund me and I said no I'll wait until they are able to do a pickup and dispatch.

I do have a mobile with a keyboard. One of those slider ones but still to type on it is demanding. When I reach out to a customer I only have an hour to complete my tasks. It's all time-based LOL!!!.

Well, enough of my problems now :).

I'm going to try to watch an episode or two tonight on my mobile while without electricity. At least my phone has an awesome battery and will help to keep me entertained for a while!

@DracoTarot Good luck with that. The situation being what it is for you, maybe start with other series and not Expanse, because they will take less time. I'd go with Terror, personally, because watching a series about an expedition trapped in ice while it's +30 outside gives it a little je ne sais quoi.

And yeah, deliveries are a pain now. Lucky for us it's the digital age, I imagine it'd be worse if games were still using CDs to run.

I was thinking about a sliding one, but the only company that made the one I was looking for was BlackBerry, and they were sort of thinking about stopping the mobile line at the time, so it never happened for me. The one I am waiting for is supposedly more modern. But I never tried speed typing with one of those. I guess, if nothing else, you're getting some finger agility. Will be useful when playing games later!

@DoctorEldritch I'm going to go with Terror then maybe something else like Expanse!

CD may someday make a huge comeback just like Records did. It could happen!! :) Imagine installing 500 compact disks to play a game. It will be so annoying :)

I have an old LG phone and working on it is such a hassle.

@DracoTarot Indeed, that does not look too comfortable. Do you also plan to watch a series on that?

@DoctorEldritch 😆 no, I do have a decent touch screen I'll use for entertainment purposes. I will not cope watching movies on the LG. The phone is so old and only works on a 2G network.

Typing on it is ok but as I've mentioned doing spreadsheets will leave me with arthritis hands, so it's a NO!!

I'm still in the market for a Legion device. It would be nice for one to miraculously appear on my doorstep. I can only dream!! 😁

@DoctorEldritch apologies, I'm highjacking the Series threat again and going off-topic.😓

@DracoTarot That's ok, we can go off-topic every now and then, branch out into new conversations maybe, sometimes.

Do take care of your hands, I know how uncomfortable it is to have pains in the wrist. Hopefully, you'll get power back soon.

But going back to the series, our recent discussion about Norse mythology made me remember the American Gods:

It is based on a book and sets an interesting discussion about the nature of divinity. Though the series is not without its flaws, it had some cast problems and when they were running out of book material, they made questionable storyline choices as well. All that resulted in it being canceled after 3 seasons ending with a cliffhanger, but I think they want to make a movie to wrap up the story now.

But for the first season, it is an interesting enough watch, o if you're after a series that touches upon the subject of divinity, I'd advise keeping this one in mind.

@DoctorEldritch the series looks interesting. Thank you for the recommendation. I'll have a look where it's available to watch otherwise I'll download the series. :)

With the power crisis, there's not much resolution as yet. The damage has already been done through all the neglect. It's going to last for a while. We were informed it may go on until the end of the month.

    😪😐
